Considering the purchase of a Sigma 500mm f/4 Sports lens, wondering how the users of the 100-600 sports lens find the responsiveness of AI Servo tracking.

I find the tracking with my Contemporarys(150-600, 17-70, 18-300) to be quite good, as well as the 24-105A, that I have-I shoot canon, and would be happy to let you try it out-I live in Deland and work in DAB. Give me a PM if interested

Nice, I know a spot in Daytona where we can find eagles if you are interested, it would be nice to compare the tracking ability of my Canon 100-400 mk II and your 150-600. I will try and get in touch with you in the next couple of weeks to see if you are interested in coming over on a Saturday morning.

You could rent the lens you are considering as well. That would allow you to check the AI Tracking as well as everything else on the product you are considering.

Thanks. Good idea but I would rather put that money towards the purchase. I am sure that if other sigma users are not having issues that whatever focus issues Sigma may have had in the past have been overcome.

I definitely look forward to getting together-I'll actually have the 150-600 back by this weekend-it's on loan to a friend. I love shooting birds, so that should be fun. I'm anxiously awaiting more info on the new Sig 100-400mm. I was told by a Sigma tech rep friend that it will be compatible with the TC that was released for the 150-600's and 120-300. Saturdays are usually a good time for me, as well.

The nice thing about going through a place like LensRentals is you can rent it and keep it if you like it. The rental fee is deducted from the purchase price.
