Nancy Wilson

Among my very favorite jazz vocalists. I was fortunate to be at Birdland when Cannonball Adderley was appearing. He brought Nancy out of the audience to sing a couple of songs. Wow!! I fell in love with her and have not stopped listening. Cannonball was the one who encouraged her to come to NYC and helped her get a start on a fabulous career. Thanks Cannonball!!(Julius)

Thank you for mentioning Nancy Wilson. You were not the only young lad who fell in love with her way back then. I got out my vinyl copy of Tender Loving Care just to give it one more listen to and stare at the cover photo. The shrink wrap is sill on the album. Price tag reads $4.20 reduced to $2.60 because the shrink wrap was partly torn open. This was 1967 when I came upon this fabulous deal. As a high school student with a weekend job paying $1.05 an hour, it was still a no brained to snag the deal. The Inflation Calculator has $4.20 equal to $29.31 to todays rate. Today, I do not think I’d pay close to $30 for my music, but Nancy Wilson singing was well worth the price. Time to spin the disk and bliss out.

I was 30 in 67'. I saw Nancy & Cannonball at Birdland in 60'. I still have some of my vinyls, but never play them. I converted all my CD's to mp3. Along with mp3 downloads, my jazz, classical and pop collections contain 40,000+ files on one of my hard drives. As a HS student, I worked for $.25 an hour. All of my listening is via mp3 files, even in my car with a flash drive that contains 10,000 tunes.

Thanks for the response and sharing. We both love Nancy!

I sure enjoyed listening to her through that link. I remember going to a casino at Lake Tahoe where she was appearing. That would have been in 1966. She was wonderful!
