Good morning. I have owned and used the Canon 6D camera since its release, primarily to do landscape photography. I can recommend it without quibble.

As to noise, this camera controls it very well. The 6D will not disappoint in this regard.

In fact, the camera controls the noise so effectively that in the field I can expose for the sky while underexposing for the non-sky area in confidence that later in development I can bring up the non-sky area free of (or nearly free of) noise. I have captured images at ISO 2500 without damaging noise.

Note that rumors say Canon will soon release an upgrade of the 6D. I presume others will continue to use the 6D indefinitely for its outstanding performance as is.

BTW: Buy a refurbished Canon camera without fear of its performance. I and others have supposed that a refurbished Canon camera has received careful human attention before going on sale.

Happy shooting.

I have been following the Canon 6D for some time. I want one due to the picture IQ. I now have a 7D MKII but there appears to me that there is a bit of noise in my low light shots. I am hoping that I will see a difference with the 6D

Canon now has refurbished 6Ds in stock. Do I have anything to worry about?

Comments from anyone that has dealt with Canon and their refurbished cameras/6D will be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I bought a refurbished 6D from Canon in May of 2014 to have a second body as a compliment to my 5D Mk III. I am very happy with it and it has performed well. I like the fact that it is light weight and is great for travel. I use both cameras equally. I like not having to change lenses on one camera often when two cameras give me a sufficient focal length range in most cases.

The 6D has one shortcoming that I wasn't aware of until I began using it (and this may not be important to you).......when you activate the HDR feature it only works for one shot. You have to reset it in the menu each time you want to shoot an HDR photo. The 5D works continuously in HDR until you deactivate it in the menu. I shoot a lot of HDR photos.

Overall I believe you will be very pleased with the 6D. Best of luck with it!

I made the change to full frame about three months ago, purchasing a refurbished 6D. It is fantastic camera! I love it! The photos are so sharp I can crop however I want and still have a sharp photo! The low-light ability is amazing - I use auto-ISO with my 100-400 hand-held and even in the evening with light diminishing I will get some good photos with an ISO of 10,000!

HDR I am not concerned a whole lot about. I am looking for nice low light photos.

The simple answer is NO. You should have at least a 90 days warranty.
I like to buy refurb from Cameta. The customer service is excellent and the warranty lasts for one year.

I just posted some images from this weekend using my 6D with the 100-400 all hand-held. I set the shutter speed at 1/640 or faster, adjust the aperture as needed, and set the ISO on auto. Most of these photos are cropped at least a little. The Great Blue Heron and the bittern are cropped about 50% - and yet are sharp enough that they could be cropped further.

The only thing to worry about is that since you are after image quality it would have been better to buy a refurb Nikon D800, D600 or D750.

No. As a matter of fact, Canon has to go completely through the camera and replace anything that is not right in order to sell it as refurbished. In some instances, a refurbished camera is better than new because it has been recertified. Don't ever buy a "refurbished or recertified" camera or lens through anyone other than Canon however. You will not necessarily get a refurbished model. I ordered a refurbished ball head from BH and it obviously had the same problem that it was originally sent back for. Canon actually goes through and guarantees the camera or lens is like new again. I have purchased many items this way (lens, flash, camera) and never ever had a problem! On the other hand, I bought a brand new 5D MKIV in September and it died in November! Canon took it back and completely went through it and fixed all problems. So now I have a "refurbished" MKIV but it works like a champ!

On a side note, you will LOVE the 6D. A newer model is coming out soon but the original is a great camera and you will really appreciate the advantage of full frame.

You have noting to worry about as far as the cameras condition. It will be just like new. But you have to remember, the 6D is an entry level full frame camera. It won't have the focusing ability the 7D II has, it won't have the burst rate of the 7D, and it won't be that much better than the 7D in low light. The 7D II is newer and therefore the sensor has been improved so much as to be closing the gab in low noise in low light on the entry level 6D. The 7D II isn't quite there yet, but it's getting close.
