What camera did you start with and how old were you?
I started with a Kodak Brownie, forgotten how old I was, went dry for a short time, than was given a Retina IIIC. From there went to a Nikon F to a Canon. Oh my do I feel old! :)
I have a full 4 drawer filing cabinet that has thousands of slides in folders. I just can't dump them all. Any suggestions?? :-D

My first recollection of a camera was one my dad had
that one looked like a black box and I dont remember what kind it was
then came my dads Polaroid
then at the age of 23 I purchased a Polaroid
then at the age of 50 a friend gave me an old Olympus point & shoot...that thing was not much bigger than a pack of cigarettes
them at the age of 55 another friend gave me a Pentax K-1000 film camera
then at the age of 62 my second daughter gave me her old Kodak Easy Share C633...then two years ago I purchased a Pentax Kx
BTW my interest in photography really did not start until that friend gave me that old Olympus point & shoot digital camera...
My first camera was a baby brownie circa 1949.
I was 11 years old.I a argus C3 and then a
Yashica J3 in the 60's still have it .I then bought
a Nikon d40x . I now have a Nikon d5100.
I started out with a Kodak Baby Brownie 127 special when my Mom had it and had time and still have the pic from it .
Then get a used Pentax Honeywell H2 Heilland after getting marred and stayed Pentax and now have the K5 and will stay with Pentax
last year bought a used 30d,then a 50d, now a 7d,and about 10 lens,all in less then a year
I also started with a Kodak Box Brownie which my father gave me for my eighth birthday. That's a few years ago now, had my 74th birthday last week.

Ansco 120 box about 2nd grade, too many years ago to figure, BOB
I used a Kodak Instamatic when I was probably 8 or 9. My first serious camera was a Pentax K1000 that I bought in the late 1970s. I think I was about 14.
I remember my first Kodak Imperial it was turquoise and silver and had a little door you opened to pop in the flash bulb. Yes I remember squinting at the little red window to see how many pictures were still there to be taken. I loved that camera and took it everywhere. Had to run errands and do chores for the neighbors in order to buy and develope the film and buy the little flash bulbs. I was always amazed at how those bulbs would be blistered after they went off and you had to be careful or you'd burn your fingers removing them for the next shot.
Does anyone remember Spiratone on Northern Blvd in Queens, NY. That was the original gadget shop. They had all sorts of gizmos for taking pictures, naturally that was much later from my Kodak Imperial.

Ansco 120 box age 7, Pax M3 in high school (copy of a Leica M3 bought at Radio Shack), Miranda G at age 25, Canon A1 age 32, Canon S70, Canon G12. Still have them all, except the Ansco, along with all of the photos. Also used Yashica, Mamiyaflex, Nikon F, Graflex and a couple of others to shoot yearbook pics in college. At this point I do not want to lug an SLR around and find the G12 just fine for most pics. On occasion I'd like an SLR, but the memory of lugging the A1 kit around kills the desire. I carry a camera most of the time and the G12 is a little big at times. I carry the S70 when I ski or where the smaller size is important.
My first camera was a Kodak that took the small casssettes. My brother who was in the Navy was going on a world cruise and ask if I had a camera he could take with him. I loaned that one to him. He kept sending me the cassettes to get developed. When he got home he gave me the camera back and later on another brother went to Viet Nam and he took the same camera over with him and again sent me the cassetts to get developed. I had 2 prints made and kept a copy. I still have that camera stored away.
I started out with a Kodak Brownie Starmatic that I got for my Junior High School graduation in 1958 I was 12 years old.
I was 18. My brother was a Marine stationed in Okinawa. I requested that he bring home a Nikon Photomic FTN. Instead, I got an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic. I never forgave him for that. 45 years later and I still have the Pentax.
I started with a 110 Kodak camera. I don't have my original camera because I dropped it in my neighbors sink. But I found an identical one at a garage sale. When I was 13 I got a Canon AE1 and I still have that.
