This is par for the course when buying a new PC. I can't tell you how many times I've bought a new PC and some piece of hardware or other isn't supported. I had a Palm Pilot and a scanner. I had to stop using them or buy a more modern piece of hardware. The good news is that you probably could stand to upgrade to a new camera since it seems that you certainly have received your monies worth. You can always by a used Canon like a T2i or something like that for $250 and use it the way you want. But if you have the money, just buy a new camera. You deserve it.

I had Windows XP and Adobe CS for processing. I decided it was time to upgrade : ( So I got a refurbished computer with Windows 10 and am subscribing to Adobe CC, PhotoShop and Lightroom. Before I upgraded I was able to use my Canon EOS 10D tethered to make images to post to my internet store. It was perfect, fast and clean! I also was able to import and process images from my Ricoh GR to ultimately make prints with my Epson Photo Stylus 3000. Life was good. However, with the new system I cannot perform any of the above functions. I was told by Canon that the drivers for Windows 10 do not support my EOS 10D and that I will need to buy a new camera. HUH!!! My EOS 10D is a great camera. I talked to Ricoh tech support re: my Ricoh GR and was told that they were able to get it to function with Windows 10 and since I couldn't they would do some research ... called back once and told still no answer. My computer guru has been looking into the whole situation and after researching says he thinks he can work things out with USB cables. I am already using USB cables which worked perfectly with windows XP. He is coming over on Tues. to experiment. Has anyone had an experience like this or do you have any insights that might help to get my crippled show back on the road? Many thanks for any ideas you might have. And all best wishes : )

I have a Palm T|X working and syncing with Windows 10! It's amazing what can be done to keep these things working if you want them!

Allen, thanks for asking. My "guru", Don Shrader, worked for 1 1/2 hours doing many different things including following your directives, which I had printed out, but could not tether my 10D or get the computer to "open" my Ricoh GR. Now he is going to do more research and so will I. Such a mystery!!!

Are you looking to tether your camera for the purposes of downloading the photos or doing remote control of the camera? Like others have said, moving photos by putting the cameras memory card into the PC's reader would be an easy fix. Another thought would be to use a WiFi SD card like this: https://www.amazon.com/Eyefi-Class-90-day-Service-Mobi-16/dp/B00CRFK4FC

I tether my camera to do multiple product shots of the jewelry that I make and sell on Etsy. I do metalsmithing, etc. I need to control the camera from the computer. It is a HUGE time saver and common practice. I will have to check into the WiFi SD card. Thanks for the suggestion : )

You can run a program called virtual box and use it to install win XP as a virtual machine allowing your computer to tether with the camera.

I hope you find a solution to your problem, but since this is a business it may be time to write off your 10D and simply upgrade as a business expense. My wife deals in antique jewelry, so we manage these things as business expenses, not technology issues.
