Printing Services

Hi, I am relatively new to this group, but have been following the discussions for a few months. Often very informative. In any case, I am interested in printing outdoor scenes to hang in my office, maybe 16x20, or so. Will be Using Lightroom CC to work out the details from RAW Nikon images from a D750.
Can anyone recommend online printing services that would give consistent results? I am outside Phila, and there is a good local camera shop, which I am inclined to use, but I have difficulty getting in during their hours, and they prefer not to get online files.
Thank you,
Andy

I've had very good, reliable service recently from Bay Photo and Meridian Pro.

I second the Bay Photo recommendation. If you download their ICC profile, use a calibrated monitor and soft proof, the resulting prints are excellent and reasonably priced. They ship Fed-x at a very reasonable cost and the pakaging is first-rate.

Thanks for the insight, sounds like Bay Photo is the one. I went there and was somewhat overwhelmed with the choices. Any recommendations on paper, or acrylic or metal prints for larger ones for an office?

I have always been impressed with Costco.com and you can order large size prints so if you are a Costco member that is what I would recommend. It is not too expensive when you think of what it would cost for you to get the paper and ink on your own.

I would suggest downloading the Bayroes ap which will give you access to all the ordering options. If you're comfortable with your calibration and softproofing, then you can dispense with the color correction service which will substantially decrease the cost. The choice of paper depends on the subject. Personally, I often use luster, but I have recently used their metallic for some automobile photos with very nice results.

I have used Nations Photo Labs for wild life and landscapes/seascapes. I had them printed on metallic paper and mounted either on gator board or on their "standout" mounting. Was very pleased with the quality of the prints and the mounting. Price is competitive or better. They run sales periodically for different types of prints and mounts which can save you a lot of money if you can wait until the sales come on. They have ICC profiles for their different papers so you can soft proof your photos before you send them in. Very please with them. They are the only service we use for pictures that will be mounted and hung on the wall. Good luck

I've used Bay Photo for Styrofoam backed prints, regular prints and metal prints with excellent results.

Yes, yes, sure but I ran a calibration photo thru my local Walgreen's and it came out fine as did the prints. If a little off no one will know any way ... the eye and room lighting is weak link.
Sure, for special prints, I can understand sending off, but for normal non-egocentric prints, no.

=============

I as well = Bay Photo. They print Everything - including Canvas gallery wrapped prints. Just make sure your colors are correct. When taking any image I capture in RAW, work over the would be print, Camera setting for color gamut as well as in my editing set to Adobe RGB... This works for me and holds well when converting to TIF and jpg. Most want only jpg sent to them over the internet service.

Bay Photo is a really good place as well. You can give them special instructions in the sending or talk to a Real Live human being as well.

I use McGreevy Pro Lab in Albany, NY. I either send them files by email or use their website. They have multiple levels of service. Suggest that you google them and send them an email to get info, or check their website. I just had three photos of the same object done in three different sizes - 24x16, 20x16, and 16x9 for a display at three different locations. The pictures were beautifully finished. They also do albums, calendars, cards, brochures, etc. I do have one advantage, though. They are close enough that I can go to their location if I feel like it, but it is great to be able to send them my files. If you want more info send me a PM.
Also welcome to UHH.

Costco photos exists primarily on line if you wish to use them and your photo printer. Costco has great prices and if you use their color profile, in most cases what you see on your monitor is what you get from a print.
I use MPIX as the preferred print provider for purchases made on my website. I had a customer specify the wrong size wall cling, they corrected the error and shipped the correct wall cling size to the customer via overnight delivery so the customer could give the cling to their son the following day. MPIX is a full service photo printing company from the smallest print, to larger prints, photo books,
Adorama also has Adorama pix, you can submit a small order to them to see what quality you will receive
Printing is usually involves a time factor, everyone today wants it now. Hint, if you want it now print it yourself, and that is not sarcastic. So many have the phone photo mentality I want it thirty seconds before I snapped the photo. So much is lost on now versus quality and being able to display a great printed copy of a photo or photos
