If Trump builds the wall who will clean the toilets and change the sheets in his hotels? Not to mention who will pick the tomatoes and apples that we eat. The big lie is that these folks do pay taxes - income tax and social security that they will never use. Through rent they support property taxes that pay for schools and roads. I have a friend who has a small roofing business. He admits to me that not everyone he hires is documented. But, he says: "I would not be in business without them, because, by God, they show up for work on time every single day and are willing to work on a roof in the hot sun and get the job done - I cannot find locals who will do that". These people have families that they are supporting through their hard work. They don't dare risk losing their job by showing up late - or drunk. I cannot fault them for wanting to work, and I really can't fault my friend as long as he is willing to hire Americans if they are willing to do the job. I think we rely on these folks more than we know.

Let's "what if":

...say there are around 800,000 passenger crossings per day across 35 points of entry (POEs) on the 1,952-mile border between the United States and Mexico........charge each car an additional $10-15 at each crossing.

...say all plane traffic does the same

...say the State department puts out a travel alert for all travel to Mexico

Do the math on these.

From the Institute on Taxation and Economic policy concerning estimated taxes paid by illegal immigrants, "This includes sales and excise taxes on goods and services ($6.9 billion), property taxes ($3.6 billion) and personal income taxes ($1.1 billion, assuming a 50 percent compliance rate)."

So, the compliance with Federal Income Taxes is assumed to max out at 50%----- not good enough for me.

Simple rule...you're undocumented, you're out of here. Seal the borders, enforce all laws, and create a system that allows as many worker visas as is required by our economy. No citizenship for breaking the rules, no voting unless you're a citizen.

What's so freaking tough, or unfair, about this????

you're looking at it backwards... make it a felony with frikkin heavy retroactive fine to hire illegals... basically you're out of business if you knowingly hire illegals... problem solved, how many do you think can stand in front of Home Depots?

Well, it does get paid for! A capital project that pays for itself in 3-5 years is considered pretty good, and keep the charges in place and the return is pretty damn good.

actually 3-5 years for a project like this is "ARE YOU INSANE" paybacks are more like 20-50 years.

Funny you should use the word "reign". Trump would like that.

Greenie,

I have earlier posts on threads where I agree.....any immigration reform requires huge fines to employers who employ them, but sealing the wall and having a coherent policy and a national database would be required.

You lost me here, brudda......don't know where you are coming from on your 20-50 years. It is clearly laid out, you came up with the 3-5 years, and keeping them in place becomes returns, so.......

???

So your friend is willing to break the law to get cheap labor rather than paying a decent wage to someone who is here legally? I imagine those undocumented that work for him are being paid under the table so they don't have to pay taxes, saving him more money. You can't convince me that there are more undocumented workers that are paying income tax than there are getting paid under the table and avoiding paying taxes. And that also relieves the employer of paying his share of taxes also. And is he paying into workman's comp for the illegal workers so that if they are hurt on the job they are covered? Probably not. The only reason anyone hires an undocumented alien is to save himself money. It has nothing to do with caring about others. And the workers are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their job so they don't risk being found out and deported or jailed.

If we would cut off the illegals from changing sheets and picking tomatoes it would open up jobs for legals who are on unemployment. Limit the amount of unemployment compensation that is available and pay them a decent wage and put them to work.

Dream on. I do not have the time to tell you what jobs welfare state Americans refuse to do. Washington state for instance used to let HS kids out of classes to pick strawberries during season. No more. Forget the wage they will not do stoop labor period. Fast food and car washes same story. They will work for 1 or 2 days and be gone. Farm workers in CA central valley. They pay decent for farm work but you can' t get our people to do the work if it is non mechanized. Period....

No job, no unemployment benefits, no income. They will get tired of not eating and will find a job, just like the illegal Immagrants do.
