Advice on a trade-in

I recently contacted mpb.com for a quote on my Canon t3i and two kit lenses, 18-55mm and 55-250mm. They offered $280 for the kit. They also have 3 80d's in stock at $899 each. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this company? I figured for only $600 I can upgrade to another body instead of buying new to the tune of $1100. I'm a bit concerned about warranty which I am waiting for an answer to. Any advice appreciated!

Thats only a $200 savings over NEW price which is $1099 right now. For the extra $200 I think the warranty from Canon would be well worth the extra cost. Plus, you have no idea what the shutter count is on those used cameras, and they likely will not come with all the stock accessories.

Yes, I agree. I just found out there is a 6 month warranty on used items from mpb. Also,I was looking on line and found a few problem cases. It is a gamble and your response just confirmed what I've been thinking in the past 10 minutes! Thanks a bunch.

I just had a customer in the store that bought a Canon 35-350mm L lens from them, but could not get it to focus on their T6i body. They brought it in where I could test it on several other bodies, and the AF motor in the lens is fried, yet the description was "MINT" condition, I would have graded the physical condition as "FAIR" at best, and after testing the AF would never had put it up for sale as a "functional" item under any circumstances. They are now trying to get an RMA so they can return the lens and get a refund of their $950 purchase price. Its a brand new company in the USA and working hard to give KEH serious competition. Only time will tell when it comes to their honestly. As of this moment I know I would never buy anything from them personally.

Here's what that camera and some lenses have sold for on ebay. Whatever price he offers will be lower than his selling price.

If you want to deal in used, I can recommend either KEH or B&H, both of which are very reliable.

You might also contact B & H, Adorama and particularly KEH,

Also consider Cameta Camera - used equipment is sold with 6 month warranty and anything purchased can be returned for full refund of purchase price within 30 days. Company has been in business for 30 years has extremely favorable ratings on review sites including some 700,000 positive feedbacks on EBAY.

Yeah. I'd give give KEH a shot.... I've purchased used from them-- but never sold to them.

I have sold several lenses and bodies to KEH and always my transactions have been easy to complete.
