And if you accidentally flip a concave or convent element you won't know it until the lens is completely reassembled.
My lenses don't have any convent elements. They're used only for taking pictures of nuns relaxing at home.
Coming from a long time technician, if you can't figure out what tool to use, don't touch it. It will only turn into a pile of junk
Hack away
You can get a Torx kit from Snap On, Mac Tools or Cornwell. If you call them they can get you the number for a tool rep. in your area. Another options is McMaster-Carr, they will ship them to you. (404) 346-7000

Possibly so, but that leather habit is quite compelling! And she's quite good with the whip. Almost enough to make you whimple!

I don't know when I take off my glasses to compare them, I can't see a damn thing.
Get one of those high-magnification "crane-lights." They make a very strong light and a significant magnification.
Another way to go is to get a "loupe" or "loupe glasses" ... the ones jewelers & doctors wear. They're very much worth it if you're going to do anything that small for more than a one-off thing. The classes are much easier, as many people can't keep the actual loupe in their eye (myself included.) They keep your hands clear and make excellent magnification.
Just a few thoughts, FWIWSC. ;-)

If you live near an Ocean State Job Lots, Big Lots, or any store that sells a variety of tools, garden supplies, candy better known as a variety store, you might be able to find a small kit with different sizes of standard and Phillips heads screw drives. Good luck.
They could be torx security screws. Snap on tools or mac tools or matco tools should have what ever you need. Hope this helps.
for those who are having difficulty understanding why you should not use a
phillips driver with a JIS camera screw, this shows how the angle is all wrong

We could get to twenty pages on this yet, even though Harvey has his JIS tools on order now!
