This article shows how even employer health insurance will be cut back.

John, I think the ACA is going to be much more complicated than they imagine. I wish they would have medicare for all, we're so far behind other countries as it is now. Health insurance should be provided under our taxes.

I totally agree with you Dljen. There is no reason why this country does not have a form of medicare for all of our citizens. Noticed I said our citizens. Why are we sending billions if not more money to other countries when we have citizens of our own country who do not have government health coverage. Health care is a right, as far as I'm concerned, for those who have built this country, but within limits. No one can afford the amount of money it takes to treat some illnesses, but no one has the right to expect free medical procedures for endless visits to a health center for minor problems.

I'm not interested in paying for someone's medical bills when it is a result of illegal drug usage, life style, promiscuity, smoking, and a few others. I don't think its right that I see a doctor four times a year and pay for people that are there every other week for head colds or a new supply of happy pills. Maybe a partial solution to the problem is to allow four visits to the doctor before a person's insurance is upwardly rated.

What John from Minneapolis doesn't say is that his premiums are much lower than those of SE Minnesota because of Mayo's proximity in SE Minnesota. Why the difference? Probably SE Minnesota has to pay the difference for treatment of people from all over the world who don't pay their share. The rates for medical insurance should not be disproportionate depending upon where in the state you live. In SE Minnesota about the only insurance you can get is Blue Cross Blue Shield. What ever happened to laws against monopoly? The ACA has a lot of problems that need to be fixed. However it probably won't change until our politicians in Washington DC lose their government health care packages and have to live in our shoes.

I totally agree with you Dljen. There is no reaso... (show quote)

I think the ACA will change but dropping the pre-existing conditions clause. I doubt if I'll ever see the day that politicians have no government health insurance...which party would ever propose that?

if there was one smart politician in DC... they would say ok, throw out the ACA and change the age of medicare from 65 to 26. voila! sorry insurance companies, big pharma...you're still good as long as you keep congress close in your pocket.

Universal healthcare coverage paid for by a flat tax on gross income before deductions. Coverage only for citizens and valid green cards(they pay taxes too). Care above primary care level would need to be done on a "triage" type set up,heart attack before sprained ankle, for example. Elective surgery, such as face lifts and butt augmentation, would be done one a "cod-first come first served" basis. If someone was sure that they would want such services,a separate insurance could be purchased thru a private firm. Plastic surgery to correct problems from accidents would be covered as any other surgery. Obviously, this would have to be "fine-tuned", but would be a place to start.
