It's about the photograph capturing a moment in history.

Please do not turn this thread into a discussion about the Obama PresidencyThe link I provided had no political content I was aware of.
It was not about Mr. Obama as President - in fact, my initial and final statements firmly reject that way of looking at this material.
It was about how the photographer could provide a POV different from what we get from news organizations. It gave me new insight about how I might try to record events, and I was hoping it might inspire others also, solely from a
photographic POV
I am sorry you were offended.

When I was a kid, I used to watch TV programs such as "You Are There"; a guy like that actually gets to live that life!
Thank you for sharing this! S-
Thank you for sharing ... a very different view ... but, seems to be too much for the narrow minded ... !

Alas your comments belie the world POV seen from a man who's vision is filtered with a brown shirt and arm band!! These photos are about story telling regardless of ones political view. Objectivity and critique as photos... with minor exceptions are excellent... helicopter view needs a crop at the bottom... otherwise excellent.
To me a good photo tells a story and these visually document one president exiting the white-house. Dan would you have fussed if the Trump had similar photos at the end of his 16 years in office? Or his entry into the white-house, I think not. OR to remove it from government similar photos of a woman retiring from teaching or a man as in the movie "Goodby Mr. Chiips" .... 50 years from now these will quickly and visually, tell the story of our last president from the POV of the white house photographer. Think of the book of memories of that photographer... wow, the opportunity.
Pete Souza has done a wonderful and masterful job of documenting the POTUS throughout his time in office. Since his job is mission-oriented, and non-political, I wonder if he continues in this role with the new POTUS. Or, if there is a new official WH photographer coming in to do the same.
I have followed Pete Souza since he became President Obama's photographer. He is one of the best in the biz. Thanks for posting.
Mr. Souza is a great photographer otherwise he would not be photographing inside the White House.
I am pretty familiar with his work.
Pete Souza was the official White House Photographer in Ronald Reagan's second term, and President Obama's two terms. He got his Master's from Kansas State and has returned there several times to speak to students, (wish I had attended). I've witnessed him working and I could tell that he was totally focused, pun intended.
