In my experience ( with Canon dslrs) Tokina lenses have always outperformed Sigma lenses. I have always found the Tokina to be stronger and sturdier too.
And I have always experienced more "failed" Sigma's.... (3 out of 5). One of the two failed tokina's was not that expensive to fix ($90).
Such is the world of Third Party. Spend the money now, or later.
I have both the Tokina 11-16 and 11-20. They are tack sharp and as good as the
the more expensive comparable Nikkor lenses. I like the 11-20 because it got a better reach .
I haven't used any Sigma..
I recently Purchased a used Tokina 11-16 2.8 and am very happy with it. Fast focus, good IQ, easy to use manual focus ring...
I did a lot of research before buying and almost all review comparisons gave the Tokina the win against all the competition in that zoom range for Nikons.
I would like to thank everyone again for your input on my question. I went ahead and ordered the Tokina 11-16 2.8 today.

10-2485? Wow that's some zoom! Must weigh a ton.
A lens like that would make me consider switching to Nikon :-;
I have used all three lenses extensively; Tokina, Sigma and Nikon. The Tokina out performs both Nikon and Sigma. In fact, Nikon runs a distance 3rd place in this category.

I have used the Tokina 11-16 lens for the past couple of years. Excellent lens for the price. I recommend it.. The equivalent Nikkor glass is quite expensive.
I have the Tokina 11-16 on my D90, being replaced in the next day or two with a D7200, and it's great. Sharp and fast. I highly recommend it. Attached are some photos using the Tokina.

Great pictures! The OP is getting this lens; but if he was still on the fence, these pictures would have pushed him over! 👍🏻👍🏻😃
