I lived there for six months in about '72. I hear it has changed a lot.
I never went over there myself (stayed around Olongapo while with the fleet). The old base is totally different! To give you an idea, they now have The Subic Bay Yacht Club where the fleet used to dock!
I guess I was really not at Subic Bay. They called NAS Cubi Point. Happy hour drinks were 10 cents!
Yes & no. The MIDWAY used to tie up at the Cubi pier. To get off the base, you had to go thru Subic. I had a lot more fun when stationed at CAPAS (north of CLARK).
Since I don't even know where this is, I can only look at the image and comment on it. Your lighting is quite good, and your ability to get both the darkness of the background and the lightbulbs correct is amazing. It makes me wonder if it is perhaps an HDR (If so, it's well done). The details in the resturant are nicely captured. The scene from there is nice. It may be my astigmatism, but the post looks a bit crooked. To most people that's probably not a deal-breaker, but since I have problems with getting things straight, I notice. The scene certainly emotes peace and a very pleasant mood. Having said all that, I have to admit that this image doesn't touch me much. Maybe if I had been there?

Mike,
Was the water and background really as blue as it appears in the image? Maybe it was taken during the blue hour? Perhaps your WB was not set correctly when the shot was taken?
Best Regards,
Tom
I find it a little blurry myself, but that's because I handheld an older point & shoot; with no fancy controls like HDR. Things seem to be leaning because of the wide angle of the lens. Things could be changed with a lot of editing, but I like it as it is.

This was after sunset, & it was during the blue hour (if that's twilight). The camera was one of the 1st basic 5MP P&S's; so it had flash/no flash, auto/manual speed ... I think that was about it. The lighting probably added to the blue, but it was there, which made it a lot prettier than the grey during the day. (Rainy season.)
