Lady of the Lake

This is a haunting picture that I took in October 2015. I've created a number of version trying to get the contrast and definition right (I had to blow it up a bit and so the edges are a little softer than I want). Helpful critiques are welcome.

It's a nice photo of a young lady checking out the lake...what's so haunting about it?

I find it haunting. You don't. Thanks for letting me know.

Jdh - did you try fiddling with the highlights and shadows? You mentioned contrast, but bringing your highlights down and shadows up some might give it a little more definition. Also, you might want to try playing with the luminescence on aqua, blue and green channels and maybe even the yellow. Sometimes that will soften glares, but it will effect the look of your saturation as well. Just a thought. I think this shot could make for a great "painting" in one of the Topaz or other PP collections.

I have spent quite a bit of time fiddling with all those controls on Lightroom and the photo I posted represents my best efforts there. I just spent a few minutes trying out the "Oil Painting" filter in Photoshop but it seems quite limited. I also checked out the Topaz website and see that I can download their "print-to-paint" software for a free trial, so per your suggestion I'm going to try that too. Thanks.
