You might also try the Content Aware Fill function in Photoshop-- I think it would work well to eliminate the manhole cover.

This is a very good shot with a story. This is only a personal preference, but I would like to have more of the path on the right displayed to complete the story and a little better balance to the shot. Love the content and how you have addressed it.
