Outstanding photos Pierre, I'm especially fond of the second one. Certainly nothing like that around here, although we are at about 28 deg F right now, our coldest night so far this season.

Parts of Eastern Canada were again hit earlier this week by a bad ice storm. Although damage was not extreme, several thousand people were without electricity for two days, there was an epidemic of traffic accidents, trees and shrubs were heavily damaged.

The region experienced a severe ice storm in January of 1998 which became a civil emergency that lasted two weeks because of major damage to the infrastructure such as the power grid and roads.Thousands of people moved into schools and public buildings to survive the sub zero temperatures. Dozens of hydro crews from the U.S. came up and gave Canada marvelous help in restoring the system.

Here's a look at this week's event.

the shots are beautiful and maybe taken through your windows?
staying indoors is the best thing you can do when it's icy and slippery outside.

Great shots Pierre, but that last one is beautiful, I love the way you have the branches on one side with the ice on and the sky is sooooo good. A wall hanger for sure..

Thanks for the beautiful images and the nice comments in regards to the cooperation of U.S Utility Linemen in restoration of power service. My wife just retired from DTEEnergy after 37 years. Every time there was a major storm she'd either be on "lines down" keeping people away from live wires, or in communication on the emergency phones. People don't realize that in time of emergency all utility workers are called to duty to assist in the areas they are trained in. And the families of the Linemen may not see their loved ones for weeks at a time if they are sent out of state or if the storm is severe enough. And yes, there is reciprocity from the Canadian and Mexican Utilities too.The one area where the term North America unites all is a severe disaster. And lets not forget those who fight wildfires either!

The weight of the ice in No. 2 must have been several pounds, and yet the cedar didn't break.
Thank you tbell.
