I bring two cameras when traveling. One has 16-80 DX F2.8 and the other with 18-300 DX F3.5.

Panny 14-45 on my MFT G5 (gives me equiv. 28-90) - good all-rounder, and reliably sharp. (was voted best kit lens a few years ago).
Have just swapped my Panny 45-200 for a 45-150 (90-300). Any zoom has to be a compromise - but enuf is enuf 4 me.
So - I have a range of 14-150 (11x) using two 3x lenses.

I have had a Pentax 16-50mm F/2.8 for the last year and I LOVE it!

It really depends on whether I want to shoot portraiture, landscape macro or closeup at the time. I have the body cap on without a lens mounted when I travel.

I usually go out with two bodies; one has my Nikon 18-55 zoom and the other my Tamron 70-300. When I traveled cross country I brought three bodies, the third held my Tamron 28-70. When I pulled over to the side of the road for a photo all I had to do was choose which camera/lens combo to use. There were times I brought out the 18-55 and 70-300.

Mine is the Olympus Zuiko 14-54mm 1:2.8-3.5II on my Olympus E-620. It's a bright, great all-round wide angle and short telephoto ideal basic lens. I don't read much about Olympus on this forum; I wonder why.

Wow! Eleven pages so far. There were many of the same, and I found this Post very important, knowing what hoggers prefer as their standard resident lens. Mine is a 35mm prime f1.8, substituted occasionally by a 70-300mm zoom.

I keep the 35mm 1.8 in my bag when I want to use the camera for low light or crisp photos. When i travel, I use my Tamron 16 - 300 with the 35 in the bag.
The 18 - 140 is the most used lens for what I shoot.
