Interesting too. I think this is a melanistic variety of the Eastern tiger swallowtail. This yellow and black butterfly is sometimes in a dark form in your area, and these are mimics of another of your species called the pipevine swallowtail. The pipevine is toxic and avoided by birds, and so dark forms of the tiger swallowtail are also avoided.
The reason why I think this is b/c I see the darker stripes of the tiger swallowtail, still visible on the wings. See here for an example:
