This post is a little confusing.
The OP says he is in Florida, so everyone seems to deduce that the subject is in Florida also.
But the OP then says there are thousands of these and that he shot some in Equador.
So are the shots taken in Equador or Florida. I'm guessing the former. ???

I didn't get close enough to see if it breathed fire, but at around six feet long, I had to shoot or run. It was on the other side of a canal but it climbed a tree and walked out the limb over the water toward me. Quite bold! As it displayed and shook its chin flap, I stood still (half out of fear.) and shot several photos. I then remembered he eats veggies. [I used a Nikon D7000, a 70-200 VR f/2 at iso 200 and 1/400th sec.]

Great shot Bill...and I feel sure if you had been too close...you definitely would have seen it breathe 🔥 fire!

Nice capture of a beautiful specimen.

(Next time check the "store original" box so we can get a closer look.)
