A Phoenix 500mm f8.0 reflex mirror lens I bought around 2008/2009. It needed a T-mount adapter and a tripod. It was OK, but takes an eternity to properly set up. It cost about $95. It is still unused today.

Maybe yours is but mine was junk. Kept it a week and returned it to Canon for a refund. I have a Canon G10 that I like very much.

Print 3X tele converter for Nikon. Must have been carved from a pop bottle bottom. (1969...)

Early in my photographic adventures, I decided I needed a longer focal length. I purchased a cheap aux lens to fit on the front of my camera lens, like a filter. Pardon my language but the best word to describe it is CRAP! Yes, it did extend the focal length of the lens, but the Image Quality was a disaster.

I also remember buying a Spirotone 400mm, f/6.3, preset f/stop lens. I think is was about $40.00 new and this was probably in the early 1980's. I probably used it three or four times and, again, the IQ was almost CRAP. It was better than the aux lens I mentioned above, although the aux lens didn't get anywhere close to 400mm, the IQ was still very bad.

I quickly learned that saving money, and getting good photo equipment just doesn't work.

However, saying that, I have had some excellent results from other companies, like Vivitar. Yes, I had a Visitar 283 (or perhaps 285) Flash unit which was excellent.

I STILL USE two Vivitar 285s. Classics.

A Sunset tripod, with a geared center column in the early '70's. The geared mechanism was so poor, that the crank would skip cogs, etc. My dad looked at it, and took it to his maintenance shop, and had a machinist repair it. He ended up making new bushings, gears, etc., and I ended up with a custom-built tripod. Next opportunity was to buy a Leitz Tiltall.

Lesson learned: Never skimp on quality!

Maybe not the worst, but I bought an Olympus C7070 a decade or so ago. Sure, it was a relatively early digital camera, but it was a disappointment. The autofocus was so slow as to be pretty much unusable, and low light was very poor. Right around the same time, my buddy bought the Canon G2, which made the Olympus seem pretty laughable in comparison. To this day, I don't think I'd consider another camera from them.

1) Ages ago I bought a cheap ass Vivitar 400mm f/5.6 lens. Soft as hell and focused "beyond"(short of) infinity to not be in focus. Had it for many years but never really used it. Eventually sold it. Now, I do have another Vivitar lens that seems fine, a Pentax-K(A) Mount (Vivitar) 19mm f/3.8 (FF / film) Lens. Only issue with this lens is it rotates to focus in the opposite direct from any of my other 25 lenses.

2) A couple years back I bought a lens (zooming / focusing) aide bracket with strap from a Photo Expo Trade Show. Seemed useful at the show for a holding point to steady longer lenses. Problem is the strap is too large in diameter for my Pentax lenses. The gadget was made for large diameter AF IS / VR Canon or Nikon lenses.

3) I have some junk laying around that was given to me or found and I've found to be useless to me: A Variable Vignetting Soft Focus accessory, Star filters, A cheap slide viewer.

I keep coming back to Gitzo. Today I have 3 Gitzo heads and 2 sets of Gitzo legs (all 80's - 90's vintage).

Yes, I have one too. It is a Vivitar and is totally useless.
