Hi, wanting to share the soccer pics i take of daughters team with the parents. When i share from my Western Digital Mybook live they get a file of icon thumbnails but cannot see the pictures. Meaning the parents would have to click each picture open to see if it is their kid. Also, shutterfly, kodak, sites make the parents have to sign up to download the pics. I just want to share multiple weekend game shots with multiple people. But rather than spend lots of time and some money making CD's for the parents. Does anyone here at UHH know of a good way to share pictures from several soccer games consisting of 40-80 pics per game with team parents so they can actually see the pics when email / file is received and click thru quickly till they find their child. etc.
Let me know please and thank you.
Evan

Welcome to the 'Hog!

Smugmug.com, Flickr.com are two that I use. I do all of my photo sharing from these sites.

Canon has a site called "Canon Image Gateway". Unfortunately if you shoot anything other than Canon you can't access it. You need to have a registered Canon camera to sign up. It's all free too!

You could even use Facebook for that, create a group everyone could share in the group

It will work but only if you don't care about the quality of the picture. FB does some compression and often the quality is compromised.

You could make a FB page and if parents want a copy, they can e-mail you to send one with better resolution.

Not to belabor the issue but why double effort. Use a real site and put the best quality out there. They can then select/print what they like.

EKatzman you've received some tenured guidance thus far... And yes many believe Facebook is likely the most universal "Free" solution.

That said are you looking to monetize your endeavors? If so then investing in a commercial portal (website) would be more germane...
Take a look at ZenFolio or Squarespace for pricing and potentials... you can actually obtain a very reasonable hosting fee for what your current perceived needs are... While the aforementioned are highly popular with commercial shooters there are many other cost effective hosting entities to choose from...

Hope this helps or is at least food for thought...

Thank you all. Not going the FB route, as i prefer to keep the quality there.
Flickr seems so far to work for me. I did a test run from home to another separate email and saw how another person would be able to see / view the pics.
Love this site.

I second smugmug...here's a coupon to get 20% off

https://secure.smugmug.com/signup?Coupon=KxZ9FVYs09Y0A

As for Flikr...after the yahoo hack of passwords, I'd avoid them, since yahoo owns them.

You can also try 500px.com

They have free as well as paid options including one that includes full adobe CC access. It's also a great place to put your photos up for sale

SmugMug is a great photography site for your purpose. On SmugMug's site, you can create a secure site (with password) for your photos to be shared. People to whom you provide access can view thumbnails, (expandable to full size shots), and you can allow them, or not, to download the digital files in varying resolutions set by you. Viewers can have SmugMug print selected or all shots from your galleries using multiple user-specified paper or crop sizes. My prints are usually mailed within 1 day of the order. Their printing quality is great and their prices very reasonable. If you wish, you can allow your viewers to link to your shots on their FB or other social media site. Plus many more useful features that go on and on...
SmugMug is easy to use, and their customer service is absolutely superb. I have used SmugMug for many years for photo sharing and printing, and wholeheartedly recommend the site!
