Are the extra items - 11-16mm lens, battery, charger, memory card, cleaning kit - shared between the two cameras? It seems to me that anything capable of holding all that stuff would be a behemoth in my eyes, so if that were my stuff I'd look for a way to separate it into two separate kits.

I have been using Peak Design messenger bag (https://www.peakdesign.com/product/bags/the-everyday-messenger ) and love it. It's very adaptable to one needs.

Hi Jim,

That's a lot of kit for a compact bag! I have the ThinkTank Retrospective 20. What I really like about it is that you can fit the 70-200 attached to your FF body, with grip, into it vertically with room to spare. Not quite compact, but it's pretty rugged.

The Lowepro Magnum series shoulder bags are very strong. They have a one-piece molded bottom that can take a lot of weight and won't sag. They come in three sizes. I have the Magnum 200 bag. I took all of the dividers out and put my Nikon D7000 with attached 80-400mm lens in the bottom.

This has been my exact dilemma and have solved it with this. Bought on eBay

After trying several others, I have settled on the Think Tank Retrospectives, available in several sizes. Expensive, but capacious -- and they don't draw attention to themselves. Easy to open and close as well.

I have an assortment of bags in an assortment of sizes & types. I am a Think Tank affiliate, but since you did not specify a budget, I suggested a more moderately priced bag. The Billingham are very nice bags, but very pricey as well. Do you have a budget for this acquisition ?

You can't go wrong with LowePro.

I agree, but I went with the Event Messenger bag. Looks very low key, and holds my laptop too. Two bodies, one with a long lens and a flash too. Surprisingly well made for the price.

Jim Bob - Seems I've tried/looked at/used/bought just about every bag recommended here plus a few others from Manfrotto, Domke, Tamrac et al. Each bag served its purpose at the time, but my recent goal was to find a compact bag that could be carried on as a second bag or "personal item" on smaller planes. Two lines have been mentioned in this string that I highly recommend based on size and protection; they are Peak Design and Think Tank. Both companies have products that work for me and I'm guessing there will be something in each line that would fit your needs. Both companies make slings, backpacks and messengers. For around town shooting I prefer the Peak Design messenger, and for travel, the Think Tank Streetwalker which provides superior protection (and fits two D7000's with battery packs and lenses attached - a wide angle and an 80-200 zoom - a flash unit, an extra lens and battery charger...and the bags are lockable). They are expensive, but I think they are well worth the money. Good luck and let everyone know what you decide and why!

Another bag worth checking out is the Lowpro Flipside 500aw. It will carry a full frame with a 70-200 2.8 attached and have plenty of room for another body and multiple lens. One feature I like is the bag main compartment is against your back. Nobody can open it up from behind you. Price should be about $136.

I had a messenger bag and I found it very heavy on my shoulder. So I bought a bag on wheels and it is perfect for my 2 cameras, lens and an Ipad. I use the camera protection inserts from the messenger bag. Works perfectly for me.

Just a suggestion...cause I do find camera equipment heavy...https://www.amazon.com/Samsonite-Wheeled-Underseater-Small-Black/dp/B00F9KE5UC/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1481811106&sr=8-13&keywords=Bag+on+wheels
