YES, horses smell soooo good. So does leather! I can imagine many different uses for that horse shoe and I see absolutely nothing wrong with that old saddle. Most new western ones are not nearly as comfy as the old ones, but I ride English most of the time....so comfortable. I have 5 saddles and for some reason, I can ride only one at a time. It's nice that whatever saddle you use, the smell of the horse never changes!
My Dad made me a napkin holder from 2 English stirrups----Welded bottoms
this old saddle is used for photo props only
3 western and 2 English
I did make a wind chime from race horse shoes!! thanks for your coments

I make napkin holders from wooden, western stirrups and paint a horse on each side and nothing sounds better than windchimes made from horse shoes. Even little pony shoes make a neat sound.

Another lover of horse smells...........something zen about cleaning stalls too.....the non-horseperson just doesn't understand, lol
nice pics!
Several years ago there was a gravel road that went past a place that had a couple of horses. I talked to the owner of the place occasionally and he said it was okay to stop and give the horses an apple from time to time. They got to know me well enough that they'd watch for me when I'd go for my walk. Well progress came along and it's all asphalt and buildings now. Since then I read a quote, "The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man." I believe that.

Imaginist, what a shame, asphalt just can't compare to green pastures. I think it was Winston Churchill who said that phrase, something about the outside of a horse.......
in any case, absolutely true. Beautiful creatures. I don't know anyone that doesn't like to look at them.
Guess that's why I have 4 of them, lol They bring much beauty to my life.

In my younger years I dated a farrier that also made jewelry from horseshoe nails. I agree there's nothing like the smell of horses, freshly cleaned stables, good hay.
