Need help in getting file photos to show larger than they do!

I am just the opposite of a computer Geek. I don't know what you would call that other than a dummy, but I am that guy.

I am in my 70's, hate glasses and so I still don't wear any readers. On most things I still fare well, but here's what happened and I can't see to resolve the problem.

I do wildlife photography and post many photos on my sites. I use a Mac computer. Recently my daughter updated to the latest web browser from Mac. Before she did that everything was okay. Since then the images I process and save in a file I call "New Photos for posting", the images only show about 1/20th of what they were before the update. I have tried in every way I know how to enlarge the photos in that file so I can see what I am posting, but still can't find a way to do it! On each photo I post, I can click on a menu which allows me to look at each individual photo larger, but it takes so much time.

I am sure there's a way to enlarge the viewing off all the photos in that file, (like it used to be), but I have no idea on how to do that.

Are there any of you Mac users who know a simple way I can enlarge all the photos in that file (and others) so they view much larger and I don't have to do it separately.

Thanks to each of you who take time to read this and to those of you who can give me any help. It is truly appreciated! Bill Allard

What are the file sizes you are attempting to upload. My first guess is that the file sizes are too small. That can happen when saving the file after post processing.

Open one of your photos in Preview, under the Tools menu, click on "Show Inspector." That will open up a window that tells you the horizontal and vertical pixels for you photo.

If that doesn't help, by all means call Apple Support or get an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store, if there is one close.

Good Luck

Not sure what a new browser has to do with your problem...Apple/Mac is alien to me but I'm sure you can get back to what you liked before with a little pocking around .....look in files pull down menus or right click here and there and try different things.....problems with installing new software is they usually come with a quick install which can screw up all your preferred settings....even change your preferred picture viewer because the machines want to take over the world as we know it !

Fight Back !

First, check the image files to be sure they are the size you expect. You can just select the file and then select File>Get Info from the menu (or use cmd-I shortcut). The dimensions should be shown in the tiny window that opens.

If these are the expected size, then open one in your browser. If it is small, then select View>Zoom In (or cmd-+ shortcut) to zoom in. What happens with the browser is, if you have shrunk an image in a window, it remembers that and opens all other images in the shrunk view. Use Zoom In to get back to a normal view.

Wait a minute -- are you looking at your folders in the browser itself, or are you looking inside the folder directly, in a "Finder" window?
If you don't know how to tell, what is the name up in the menu bar in the top left of your screen, next to the Apple logo, when you are looking at all the photos.
If it says "Finder", you are looking in your folder directly; otherwise, you are looking at them via some other program, which could be your browser. If it's a browser, the name might be "Safari", or "Firefox", or "Chrome".

The reason I ask is that Finder windows can display folder contents in a variety of ways. One of them is called "Cover Flow", which is like a little slideshow in a top pane, and the list of the files down below. You can expand the image sizes by making the window bigger, and dragging the bar between the slideshow pane and the list pane down as much as you can.

Finder windows also display thumbnails of your images in a grid when they are in "Icon" display mode. If that's the case, you can right-click or hold down the Control key and click on an empty area, which brings up a context menu with an item called Set View Options; click it, and you'll get a little popup with a slider allowing you to set the icon size, all the way up to 512x512.

On the other hand, if you're really looking at your images in a browser, pressing the Command key and the "+" key usually increases the size of everything in the page, including the images.

Hope this helps.

I followed Wes' advice and it works. The photo is magnificent.
