I've had mine for about a year and it's fun to bring out every now and then. I shot this with it at a Sacramento Kings game last February and I was happy with the low light results.

I have used the Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 for both architecture and landscape photography. I correct the distortion using Lightroom and a plugin called Fisheye Hemi. Take a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnjNK9WIRD4 for a tutorial using the lens and software.

This is an interesting forum. Here is my 2 cents. I am not a fan of extreme wide angle lens. I guess I am getting older and
prefer a more real look with the challenge of the content as art. A not so secret is folks who do a lot of cine video use these lens.
They have improved them in the last 2 years for video. I have the 14mm cine and it really looks stretched with some distortion.
The 24mm is very good. Have heard the 35mm is good and the 50mm which was the last cine I got is superb.
As you all probably know cine lens are crazy expensive. the 14mm, 24mm, 50mm with their amazing f stop advantages
probably cost about 1500 bucks. Would like the 85mm.
And I dont see why you guys could not use these cine lens (which I suspect are a little better than the still group)as your primes.
Rokinon has been sold under other names but is the same (Korean I believe company) and now has upscale lens for filming.
I think if you research and buy the most recent versions you will get a great bargain on glass.
Good luck.

I bought it for what I considered its forté: relative sharpness and near fish eye distortion. Just a plaything for that occasional situation that a fun image will result. For what I bought it for, I am extremely happy with the results I obtained. Just don't expect more.

Thank you to all for your excellent input and pictures. I plan to purchase it, and at a $169 it is a very good value.

Any opinions on the Rokinon HD8M-C 8mm f/3.5 HD Fisheye Lens? I saw this advertised and the reviews for the lens (priced $169) were very good. Has anyone used it? I would enjoy your feedback.

It does an excellent job of what it was designed to do and is excellent value for the money. Actually made by Samyang and marketed under several different brand names.

Further thought I think we all know that some very special high quality lens do some amazing things.

Rokinon (Samsung etc) is now putting out very good lens. In the past reviews ripped them. A few months ago I was a a shoot using Canon primes

and the filmmaker likes some Rokinon lens a lot. The thing is the equipment looks great and is expensive to own and rent is still an issue for pro work.

The magic of some lens is the creation and execution of the glass and design. I think my Sony Zeiss 55mm 1.8 is as food as it gets for stills on the 1k price range.

My Rokinon's the more recent series which I bought for mirrorless video are really great.Chromatics soft edges all this stuff doesn't matter if the visual has some magic.

Good plan. It is an excellent lens for what it is, especially for that price.
