Actually I am considering dropping the Attic altogether. Some good things show up here but even most of those turn into an insult contest. Insults, pontificating and little discussion or effort to understand and/or discuss things. Some just enjoy arguing and discontent, others enjoy insults etc, and some who either outright say or imply that they are right and anyone who doesn't agree can't be very intelligent. Post after Post of this, and it seems each one more far out than the last. And to my mind their viewer counts show how few give a da** about what they have to say.

I don't need it, too many things that can be enjoyed in this world, like (radical thought) taking, editing, posting and discussing/viewing photographs, enjoying my family and our pets.

There is a big, varied world outside this sub-forum and no matter what is posted here or on/in the media most of it is not hate and discontent or people out to show how superior and elite they are (or what a low life piece of scum they can be).

Anyway:

HAPPY THANKGIVING, and any other holiday you may observe. I will make my final decision and drop out of The Attic or not by Monday.

I for one will miss you if you drop out, I have not seen too many posts from you recently but I have learned from and enjoyed reading many of your posts, you have from time to time taught me things about our country's history that I did not know. Robert, although we don't agree ideologically on much, I can still appreciate that you are a very well-read scholar and I enjoyed many of the stories you shared about your teaching career. I also thank you for being one of the more civil members of the forum. Would that all the forum members had your level of civility, the level of discourse in the Attic would be much different than what you described, and would be such that the more intelligent folks would want to stick around rather than consider abandoning.

Of course. Everyone here would be missed, just for some it would feel bad and others it would feel bad.
For that matter I fit in that category myself. My main thing is I try to keep from getting into the name/insult/mud slinging etc.
But, OH! IF THEY COULD READ MY MIND!!! I know cuss words and insults in 4 languages I don't speak and Southern Hillbilly/Redneck, which I grew up speaking and of course English. Amazing what you can pick up in the Army and teaching in Los Angeles, after growing up in Rural Kentucky.
I used to type these blistering flame replies and then delete them to get it out of my system, but I stopped because I knew my Buddy Murphy would guide my finger to "send" one of these days.
