I get the can of "Easy" pie mix, add two eggs and some evaporated milk. I pour it into a ready-made pie crust, and it's ready in an hour. Delicious!

I go to our local supermarket, get can of pure pumpkin (store brand or Libby's), thaw frozen prepared pie crusts, and put a spoonful of pumpkin with our doggies' dry food. Can't stand pumpkin pie, but it is good for their digestion, and has lots of fiber. Then make an apple pie

The best traditional pumpkin pie recipe is on the side of a Libby's Pumpkin can. I make a Cinderella Pumpkin Pie that is a pumpkin custard topped with real whipped cream. My father was in Gourmet Magazine back in the 60's with the recipe, but he gave the recipe for 100 pies at a time, using commercially available ingredients. We owned a bakery in those days and would sell 2,000 pies the day before Thanksgiving! The Cinderella Pumpkin was a good seller. My family would disown me if I didn't make it for Thanksgiving every year.

I recently read an article about cutting canned dog food with pumpkin to help with an overweight dog's diet. Apparently, dogs like pumpkin and it will allow you to reduce the amount of dog food and calories the dog takes in, while maintaining the volume of food so the dog isn't hungry.

Yeah, don't use canned "pumpkin pie mix" which probably has sugar and other stuff, just pumpkin. Just a spoonful.

Yeah, but what does that do to the dogs digestion? I mean like if you feed dogs the wrong sort of food, they usually start farting, if you know what I mean.

According to the vet who wrote the article, cooked canned pumpkin is mild and easily digested. He claimed that it was easy for a dog to digest and ddoesn't cause any problems. I can't find the exact article I read, but https://phz8.petinsurance.com/healthzone/pet-health/pet-food-and-recipes/canned-pumpkin-for-dogs-and-cats
