What's heavier - a ton of gold or a ton of feathers? Answer below.
Obviously, a ton of feathers.
"Troy ounce is a traditional unit of gold weight. Troy weight is a system of units of mass customarily used for precious metals and gemstones. There are 12 troy ounces per troy pound, (373.24 g) rather than the 16 ounces per pound (453.59 g) found in the more common avoirdupois system."
Ahem... It's "a pound of feathers or a pound of gold.".
"Ton" specifically refers to 2000 pounds avoirdupois, so a ton of each would weigh the same.
Jerry, without even reading the "answer below", my first question would have been, which system of weights are you using?

A pound of feathers weighs more than a pound of gold
BUT
An ounce of gold weighs more than an ounce of feathers.
Troy ounce weighs more than avoirdupois ounce.
Hint: relax and go metric, the official (original and unenforced) measurement system of the USA
Give me a ton of gold and I'll be happy either way.
This is all we can think of to discuss in here? š
Jerry, you must be VERY desperate to get to 80.000 posts. This was one of you waste of time posts. Save us.

Actually they weigh the same... a ton is a ton, at least here in America.

Every country on the planet except for Liberia, Myanmar and of courseā¦ the United States of America is
metric. A ton is 1000 kilograms. (2240 avoirdupois) "Ahem"
You are out voted in a 20 to 1 landslide.

OK, but it's still the same for feathers or gold.
My post didn't got through. The joke is flawed and the only way to make it work is to word this way: What is heavier, an ounce of gold or an once of feathers? The answer is the ounce of gold, because it takes only 12 of them to make a pound, where it will take 16 of the feather to make a pound.

I'm with him.....give me a ton of gold and keep the feathers.
Ya know, we could back to talking politics...
Can I feather my bed with gold?
