Exactly! (Do you mean the tester or me?)
It seems obvious that leaving the lid off will let it cool faster. Of course, the obvious isn't always correct. Hot water will freeze faster than cold water.

Great tune - also done by The Manhattan Transfer.
I had originally chosen the Manhattan Transfer version, which I'm familiar with, but then listened to the Ink Spots and thought they were pretty cool.
Coffee should be made fresh from ground beans and drunk as soon as,not left to stew or reheat, thanks just my opinion .๐นโ๏ธ
Well, too hot and too cold are always factors to sone, BUT what is the Perfect Temperature.
Growing up, there was always coffee on in our house. Mom used a percolator too and when it was done, she took the grounds out and put it on the spot in the center of the stove top which was right over the pilot light. The coffee was always hot enough to drink, never got bitter from reheating or possibly coming to a boil. Then again, a pot of coffee never lasted too long in our house anyway.
I love my coffee. I have my own Keurig machine sitting on my desk at work so that I don't have to pay $1.50 in the cafetteria. I think the machine paid for itself in the first month that I owned it.
What I also have and love is a small Salton mug warmer. I have had it on my desk since 1985 and it continues to work flawlessly - despite being left on over the weekend a few times - wonderful black gunk in the bottom of the mug on Monday.
I have 2 mug warmers, a Salton 23W in my studio and a Dazey 25W next to my chair in our living room. Found them on eBay and they both work great. Don't bother with any with lower wattage as they won't keep your mug hot enough.

That's where we get to obsessing about coffee temperature. I've used mug warmers before but never really found that they kept my coffee hot enough.
Americas test kitchen ( interesting food TV show) tested (17 taste testers) about 20 brands and types of coffee machines available (not different coffees). Their result, including research with growers and java connoisseurs, was that it should be brewed and served at 195 degrees, NEVER to reach boiling temp. (212). I bought the winning machine, Techni Vorm Moccamaster. A bit pricey.
As for me personally .... I'll reheat coffee a day later in the micro as long as nothing is swimming in it.

Recently I've used a drip maker and now a Keurig after my percolator died. Everybody says that percolators are the worst, but I never had such good coffee as I did from my percolator. I could always get the perfect coffee to water ratio down to the grain of coffee. I'm going to buy another percolator.
