That is funny. In the town of Sandwich on Cape Cod, you will see police cars with "Sandwich Police" written on the side. "Hey, fella, you got mustard on that sandwich?"

Normal makes headlines every once in a while. In Illinois there's also a town named Oblong. Many years ago a headline read "Normal girl marries Oblong man."

I know the Oblong man, and met the Normal woman once while she was still married to the Oblong man. Normal is about 4 miles north of where I'm sitting.

Bending the topic to "stay on topic," Normal is 120 miles SSW of Chicago, about 165 miles NNE of St. Louis. We in Bloomington-Normal don't consider it to be southern Illinois, that starts somewhere south of Litchfield or Effingham.

I thought anywhere south of I.80 was classified as mid to south Illinois? Seemed to be to those who lived along the I.88 corridor when I lived there!
