This was taken by a "point and shoot" digital several years ago. One of the four dragons guarding the bridge leading to the castle on the hill in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Beautiful country and wonderful people!

Awesome - love dragons ... :-)

I believe these dragons were fashioned from bronze sections and they had developed that beautiful green patina. Also, if I recall correctly, the "coat of arms" of their capital and largest city (Ljubljana) depicts a dragon on top of the castle..

Copper construction would definitely explain the green. I think you've added another 'gotta see' place to my bucket list ... which gets longer pretty much weekly. Right now I'll have to live to be 100 to see it all
Thanks again for sharing this great photo.
Best,

Tom: It appears you are quite correct. Apparently the dragons are fashioned from formed sheet copper plates. In my own defense, I also verified there are bronze candelabras (lights?) on the bridge also. Must have made an erroneous assumption that they dragons were also. When you get up close to the dragons you can see the seams. Slovenia is a wonderful place to visit. I also recommend Dubrovnik, Croatia ( medieval port with castle and rich history).
