I like the first one best. The photo is filled with color and objects but I am still drawn the highlighted mill. That is a beautiful photo. The 2nd one has too much dark area in the lower left and I am not drawn to the mill like I am in the first one.

I like the slightly closer view of the mill and the composition of 2. There is almost too much foreground in 1 for my personal taste. In 2 the mill and that beautiful reflection are the stars. Both are very well done.

I agree that #2 is best. There are distracting elements in #1. True, it has better color, but I keep tripping over the wooden thing that is in the water in front of the mill. #2 is simple and really shows the mill. Also, #1 might have the mill slightly out of focus. but it is hard to tell for sure.

I have two pictures of Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway. One picture shows a much better reflection of the mill in the pond, while the other picture has better color (IMHO). I would like others opinions of which one they like better, and any other critiques they may have.

there's no way i could choose...both are gorgeous!

Great shots I wish I had some pics like these in my portfolio. I like the one with the the foliage in front better although your right the color in the other photo is outstanding. Hard choice to make.

I love the reflection in the second one, but over all I like the first one 'cause it's brighter and I love the fall colors!

Both are beautiful in their own right. The closeup of the mill has the great reflection as you mention which really makes that photo. The wide angle shows a different perspective and more color. The mill is alsosort of framed by the trees on either side of the photo, which I really like as well. Both photos are well done. Don't pick just one of them, use them both.

I like #2. It allows the viewer to examine the details more closely and appreciate the photos many colors.

#1. It's brighter, gives a more colorful representation of the season, expands the setting while still framing the subject. Worthy of a nice 16x24 wall hangar.

My pictures of the mill were shot on Oct 18th (Tuesday), The colors all along the Blue Ridge Parkway were at peak (as far as my wife and I could tell). I will be posting more pictures I took along the parkway in the next few days.
