Some hoggers were just discussing on how to improve on the Sony A 6300, like what one would do/change..........
Now Sony has just released the A6500, it becomes interesting in regard if this new model meet some of that criteria!

--- Well... I note that it does NOT have a 'Canon-Shoulder-Strap' (see original thread)

It seems like yesterday that the a6300 was released. It was an improvement to the a6000, a camera owned by a friend. He may be interested in this newer model. a6500.

In a sense, I was waiting on the successor to both the a6000 and a6300, specifically a model with built-in Image Stabilization such as on ALL previous Sony A-mount ILCs and on the mark II a7s!!

But now? It's moot! Yes, I am ranting. Fascinating how those "old" Sony A-mt ILCs had IS built-in yet retailed for a few hundred dollars, but no! To achieve that in their E-mount cameras, prepare to fork over at least $1400 retail! I know, I know: the design of the E-mt camera necessitates a higher cost for built-in IS. Maybe that's true, but that extra cost is a long way from the a6000, which debuted at ~$700 and a year later effectively dropped to ~$550.

The a6500. It's a steal compared to the a7II! $200 less. WOW!

Oh, but they're so compact, those E-mt cameras! Actually, it depends what one's attaching to it. THAT'S WHY I'm leaning towards purchasing the A99 mk II! Let's do some math. Take the weight (with or w/o the battery and SD card, it doesn't matter,) of the a7RII. Now add the weight of the Sony LA-EA4 adapter so I can use my Sony/Konica/Minolta Full-frame A-mount lenses in their intended full-functional fashion. Guess what? That combination weighs about 50 grams (remember, there are 453 grams per pound)! As Archie Bunker would say, "Whoop-ti-doooo!"

Yes, I have an admittedly filtered prism through which I'm now looking. What about that a6000 I own? I might convert it to a Two-Spectrum camera. IF I were to buy a successor E-mt ILC, I suppose at this point in time, it would be an a6500 IF I couldn't buy an A99II or if it comes to light that it has defect(s) discovered soon after its November debut.

With respect to the a6500, Sony, thank you?

How much light does the SLT steal from the lens to feed the EVF? I think this is a very bad idea.

None. It monitors but doesn't have to "steal" because it feeds its own electronic processing stream to drive the EVF. I've come to prefer the EVF (After all those Nikon years) It is a WYSIWYG. That's the beauty of moving as early as possible to an electronic stream from a light stream.

Oh it doesn't steal light to feed the EVF but rather the phase detection AF sensors. So how much light loss due to this?

About one-third.
