Some hoggers were just discussing on how to improve on the Sony A 6300, like what one would do/change .........
Now Sony has just released the A6500, it becomes interesting in regard if this new model meet some of that criteria!
In a sense,
I was waiting on the successor to both the a6000 and a6300, specifically a model with built-in Image Stabilization such as on
ALL previous Sony A-mount ILCs and on the mark II a7s!!
But now? It's moot! Yes, I am ranting. Fascinating how those "old" Sony A-mt ILCs had IS built-in yet retailed for a few hundred dollars, but no! To achieve that in their E-mount cameras, prepare to fork over at least $1400 retail! I know, I know: the design of the E-mt camera necessitates a higher cost for built-in IS. Maybe that's true, but that extra cost is a long way from the a6000, which debuted at ~$700 and a year later effectively dropped to ~$550.
The a6500. It's a
steal compared to the a7II! $200 less. WOW!
Oh, but they're so compact, those E-mt cameras! Actually, it depends what one's attaching to it. THAT'S WHY I'm leaning towards purchasing the A99 mk II! Let's do some math. Take the weight (with or w/o the battery and SD card, it doesn't matter,) of the a7RII. Now add the weight of the Sony LA-EA4 adapter so I can use my Sony/Konica/Minolta Full-frame A-mount lenses
in their intended full-functional fashion. Guess what? That combination weighs about 50 grams (remember, there are 453 grams per pound)! As Archie Bunker would say, "Whoop-ti-doooo!"
Yes, I have an admittedly filtered prism through which I'm now looking. What about that a6000 I own? I might convert it to a Two-Spectrum camera. IF I were to buy a successor E-mt ILC, I suppose at this point in time, it would be an a6500
IF I couldn't buy an A99II or if it comes to light that it has defect(s) discovered soon after its November debut.
With respect to the a6500, Sony, thank you?
