I knew there was something in the house since Friday night when I found several small objects/trinkets turned over. This continued through Sunday. Finally on Monday morning as I was leaving for work the culprit flew by me. I had been looking down when I should have been looking up.
Happy ending: I did coax him out the door.

I wish I took more. You have seen all two. I guess my mind was on work and getting the bird out the door. When I opened the upstairs door, it did not take him too long to depart. Hope I see him around the neighborhood.

Amazing, funny and probably scary for you. I wonder how on earth he could have got in. Thanks for sharing a unique story.

My laundry room is in a small room outside my back door. I left the door open while loading the washer or dryer. I know I should keep it shut but fogure what can happen in a minute or two.

Shang: Thanks for your comments. I thought it was a Burrowing Owl but I was corrected, it is a Screech Owl.

Most of us have to go out and search to find one And here you have one in your house!
I would probably leave an opening for him along with some raw meat and hope he returns. I wouldn't even mind if he left some calling cards.

Great! Most of us have to trudge through the forest to photograph one.
