I've been doing business with B&H for many, may years and had little problems with them. Then awhile ago, here on UHH, there was a thread concerning B&H and problems that the initial poster was having with them. Up until then I still had no issues with B&H, however, I suddenly find myself quite upset with B&H. Lately they seem to close down an awful lot. I realize that their religion calls for a lot of various observations, but it's becoming increasingly hard for me to continue doing business with them when I can't order or it takes 10 or 12 days to deliver to Wisconsin from the east coast. B&H has a calendar posted with the days they will be closed this month and it's full of closed days. I'll have to take my business elsewhere. Any of you UHHers having the same reaction as me?

You won't find many complaints about B&H on here because they don't deserve any complaints!

"Yes, go to amazon.com where the store is nameless/faceless/human-less." Yes, so true, can't deny. But always open 24/7, 365 days of the year, and usually with final "in your front door" prices that are lower. And never found anything they wouldn't take back in the first 30 days for any reason what-so-ever. Hard to beat.

Interesting
Since you have no respect for the religious priorities of Orthodox Jews you should take your business elsewhere.
We who respect ALL religions will certainly continue to do business with Adorama and B&H
Shame on you!!!

Maybe we should make Jewish holidays as close down the country as we do ours?

absolutely not! the fact that they are observant religious people is not an aspersion on their business practice. shipping items to Wisconsin has always been a problem and has normally taken longer than in practically any other state in the union. you may take note that no one complains when christian businesses are closed for their religious holidays. i find your post offensive, to say the least. if you can't cope with the multiplicity of religious practices in the United States, perhaps you'd be happier in Russia.

Actually, the Jewish High Holy Days go back thousands of years. As to Saturday closures, this is not unique to just this vendor. And this closure extends to all employees, not simply those who are Jewish.
Observant Jews consider work of any kind a sin and if one were to profit from business on a religious holiday this is not allowed.
But they do offer competitive pricing and have great service. If they didn't they wouldn't be in business.
Face it, what's more important- respect for your faith or selling a camera?

The anti Semite who posted complaints about the observant Orthodox Jews-- I am a reform Jew- should be ashamed of himself
He reflects the worst of the worst
You need to read what I said

The problem isn't B & H - it's your poor planning and intolerance.

I'm with you but not because of any religious issues. I just find that their service has become poor, quality of packing has become lax, and getting through to someone for product advice is more difficult. These are important factors when you live in CA but shop the east coast. So it really isn't about religion... It is about quality and customer service.

I just can't understand the 10 to 12 days it takes a package to arrive. Otherwise, I am good with all of this. Though I am not a religious person I admire those that are and who are willing to follow their own religious practices even though they may be difficult. These practices are not just difficult for their customers they are difficult for the those that follow these traditions a teachings.

I like doing business with B&H and generally choose them first but if it was inconvenient to use them I would just go to Adorama or Amazon.com. They're are others as well.

i have never had a problem with b and h ..i don't care that they are closed for their religious holidays..yeah it could be a pain once in a while because of murphy's law ...but what is the big inconvenience anyway? they are open often enough for you to purchase whatever you want when you want....their service is outstanding...their prices are reasonable..they are always helpful in store or on the phone..even the other store Adorama has the same days off ..... what is the major issue you seem to have when they are closed??? you can always go to a local camera store in a pinch..there is amazon..there is eBay...we live in a country full of other options..and you have a problem with a store because they are closed on their religious holidays..??? and shipping.???what?..isn't it possible that the carrier could be at fault..poor service..?? there are jerks in EVERY company..hang up and call again..chances are you will get someone else that is helpful and great at their job..unless you have been in that store personally like I have you have absolutely no idea what a tremendous place that is..with hundreds of workers ..it runs like a swiss watch..i have never ever had a salesperson there that hasn't been extremely helpful in every way possible..

The OP's problem was religious issues--so you are not with him-- I hope.
That said, my experience with B&H has always been very good--including a purchase last week.
