I know some here have recommended Lynda's for Photoshop tutorials. My question is: Have you felt at $30 per month you got your moneys worth? Is there some other site you might recommend?

I actually have an annual subscription, so it works out to a less than $30 a month, but yes, I think it is worth it. BUT (big but) I use it for other training also. The site has training for many facets of business, computer operating systems, computer programs (i.e. Microsoft office, etc.), hardware (camera evals; iPhone classes, etc.), so you might find some of these of interest also. If you are only going to use it for Photoshop training, there are cheaper options out there, including lots of free stuff on the Adobe site. Some of the Adobe training is only available on Lynda.com, however. KelbyOne is one option that is cheaper than Lynda; they focus on photography including Lightroom and Photoshop.

Check to see if a local university has an OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) connected with it. My wife and I belong to the Cal State Fullerton OLLI; membership is $255 per year, which includes free: parking, classes, campus internet, AND access to Lynda, plus much more. More info:

Go to your public library. They may have a Lynda subscription you could use.

Considering that the local community college charges something like $250 for their 'intro to Photoshop' course, $30 a month might be a real bargain if you keep at it and learn something new every month.

Shop around before you commit to a monthly fee. There are many tutorials.

I think that the LA County Public Library gives out free Lynda subscriptions. I get one through work myself (though I prefer a printed paper book, I'm such a luddite at times which is quite a feat given my line of work!), but checking with your local library is a great idea.
