Last week I got an Anker Vertical mouse, on sale from Amazon for $10. I thought it would help prevent my wrist from getting sore. Didn't help. Although the mouse is more or less vertical, I still have my hand at a slight angle, so it doesn't really make any difference, and since it's longer, the wire tends to get in the way. I'm going back to my Logitech wireless.
I was having problems with my right hand as well from using a mouse so I switched to an M570 Trackball from Logitech. The trackball really helped with wrist pain after a while and it is much more accurate when pointing and clicking. It takes a little time to use to but for me it's faster than a mouse.
I didn't have my first computer more than two weeks before I replaced the mouse with a (Kensington) track ball. That was over 20 years ago. Much better. I hate using a mouse; seems to me a trackball is better in every way.
Jerry, I had the same problem with my right hand getting sore, so I changed the mouse buttons from right to left, and spent a week acclimating my left hand to using a mouse. Once you get used to it, it works out great.
Thanks. The trackball sounds like a possibility - switching buttons, not so much.
Also, you might think of some sort of "tablet"; I use a large Wacom... A "little" more expensive that a trackball though.

I use both a trackball and a pad Jerry but for everyday use (browsing etc.) I use the track ball, it's just a lot easier on my hand.

I heard lots of good things about trackballs. I added one to my Wishlist
Because of my arthritis, I have used a Logitech, cordless track ball for the last six or seven years. It is obviously a bit bigger than a mouse but despite the size, it is much more convenient than a mouse and being wireless means it can be placed in the most comfortable position to suit where and how I sit at my computer. Yes, they are a lot more expensive than a computer mouse but I think that they are well worth the price. I also use a Space Navigator when I am working on Autocad and architectural drawings.

When I use a laptop - on my lap - I usually have the mouse on the arm of the recliner. Very comfortable. I've removed the Vertical and gone back to the cordless.

That's the great thing about trackballs; they don't move so you need very little space to operate.
