I wonder about statements like that. I've had virus software do a scan and say I had several thousand viruses. If I paid for the program, they would be eliminated. Checking with a couple of programs of my own showed no malware at all.

I feel your pain. If you're willing to invest some time in learning a different interface, Capture One Pro is by far a superior RAW processor. https://www.phaseone.com/en/Products/Software/Capture-One-Pro/Highlights.aspx?gclid=Cj0KEQjwgJq-BRCFqcLW8_DU9agBEiQAz8Koh7x1bQUt2gaD29gVPoayYOmZwr8NB-lk6nmil3ATwEsaAiDS8P8HAQ

Other than major retouching, it can handle ALL of your adjustments and cleanups in stellar fashion. The company, being Danish and not totally-consumed by the pathological pursuit for ever-growing profits, offers a choice between buying a license OR a subscription (a path Adobe would follow were they not extortionists). There are many online tutorials to help soften the learning curve. Capture One is the standard capture and processing software in use by major studios and photographers. It's a small, responsive company.

The only real caveat is for those using plugins as part of their workflow, or those producing composites and advanced retouching. For that, Photoshop still rules the roost. Affinity Photo can handle the retouching, but still doesn't incorporate standard plugin architecture.

If you want to break free from your chains, it takes some effort.

That's just an ignorant thing to say. You never own anything when you "buy" software. You pay to use it. It's called rent. Whether you buy it on a version by version basis, or buy it month by month, you are only paying for the privilege of using it. You "own" nothing. This is and will always remain the software publisher's property - not yours.

That's just legalistic semantics. I own LR6 and PS. As long as an OS supports them, I can install them. I don't have to pay every month to use them, and if Adobe forgets I exist, they will keep working.

I am posting about the service or lack thereof from Adobe. I subscribe to the $10.00 a month subscription. All was well untill a week or so ago when lightroom stopped.I kept trying to log on ,I kept trying whatever links ,email, or phone numbers to no avail. It is almost as though they have no records of me being a paid subscriber. I am not getting what I paid for and it is frustrating to put it mildly. I have decided to explore options and find an outfit that is a lot more customer orientated. If I can figure out how to do it I will cancel,I will notify the bank in person that I am done with Adobe.By the way, they keep telling me that I am on a trial subscription with both PH and LR.Total waste of money. About the only thing they did right was take my renewal without asking,I would have said, not interested.
I am sure some of the UHH ers will get all smart on me and blame the consumer with any type of help desk I would not be posting this.

Yes they are often a$$holes to deal with. But they've been ripped off by shady customers so many millions of times that they've made themselves hard to communicate with.

I have used their software since the mid-1980s, and have always had a love-hate relationship with it --- and them. The same goes for Microsoft.

Please share contact information as I would gladly keep them. No contact info I have is any good. If you cant criticize without helping ,whats your point? How did a hamburger joint get into this discussion? My e mail sent me to a trial subsriction and runs in a circle.

I own Zoner 18. It is one of the most powerful, relatively inexpensive, packages out there. I had gotten 17 free and later was offered 18 for next to nothing. I enjoy trying out and occasionally using different software. While an older version of Photoshop is my go to editing software, mostly out of habit, Zoner is a good alternative.

I understand. More often than not, contacting Adobe has not helped me at all. I don't have the links on this computer, but there are many alternatives to Adobe.

If an "anti"-virus package says you have several thousand viruses, it's a scam!

Who gives a sh*t whether you OWN it or not? When buying a license the software is YOURS TO USE until your OS or a newer computer no longer supports it. This is as opposed to paying up unending extortion and having your software deactivated if you no longer pay up. Neither I nor any professional I know was constantly upgrading. Most of their upgrades offer innocuous and/or irrelevant additions and bloatware. When a relevant feature appeared, we upgraded, but that was often a 2-3 year interval. The cost of using Photoshop is like the cost of Epipens, and for those of us who use it professionally, our lives also depend on it.

Vista was a mistake. It had more problems than any MS OS ever. It was horrible. I can't blame them for not wanting to support it, especially after MS withdrew support for it. The operating system has to be robust in order for software to run properly on it. So, your assumption is incorrect. That's life.

ASSUMPTION!??? I used Vista for years with PHOTOSHOP. Vista buggy, yes; Vista would crash weekly. The problems had nothing to do with Ps. Vista had the best interface of any version of Windows. Also from what I remember MS had fixed some of the issues with Vista by the time they got to "my" 64-bit Ultimate version. Windows 8 was a bigger mistake for most PC users (OK for hand-held devices). Windows 95 was a total joke. Today I use Windows 10 on both PCs.

My issue with Adobe over Ps on Vista was they lie. "Support" has nothing to do with function. What does Adobe do, call Microsoft when one of their customers has a problem?

Gene, I take you point that Vista was sucky, but that was not the point of my reply or the OP.

I guess you disregard that Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom are the worldwide standard for graphics and photographic editing? That there is an incredible vareity of available plug ins, filters, tutorials, classes and books? And that professionals make their living with these two incredible tools?

Got a phone number that works? Whats your point? Lets guess the consumer is at fault.
