Shot these at the Palm Beach Zoo. - My first opportunity for a Koala and some more of the Juvie Grizzlies.

All taken with Sony A77II and Sigma 100-300 f4. The Koala is shot fairly close at f4 to knock out the fencing - but I do wish I had more DOF to get his ears in better focus ! A decent Koala image has been on my bucket list for a L-O-N-G time now !

The Juvie Grizzlies are both females.....

Excellent work,Larry. Patience is everything. Animals can be difficult, always moving, hair blowing, and posing for you is not their plan, ever. And then there's the "zoo thing-- Trying to get them isolated, out of their nooks and hiding spots, bars and fences and people in the way . All that being said,Larry, You nailed the koala and the grizzlies. I love the grizzly coming up from the water.

Thanks so much Carlysue ! .........sounds like you have been to a few zoos yourself !

This day was particularly frustrating - heat index = 103 and had to resort to manually focusing to get through the fencing for the Grizzlies.

That had to be hot for the animals! If you ever get to Columbus, we have an excellent zoo, animals provided with a natural habitat and lots of space. Its primary goal is education and they do a lot to help endangered species. Lots of babies born at this zoo. But it is well attended (good for the zoo, not so much for photographers). Open pretty much year around, shelters for the animals that cannot take the temperature extremes.

Seems like a humane plan. Their heavy coats must get unbearable (no pun!) in Florida's heat and humidity.
