I took this at 300mm w/flash.

That's quite good. I use that lens 95% of the time.

Very good shot of the hummer. A friend has that FX lens on a D7200. You obviously did not use the pop up flash.

Very nice. I am considering a flash unit for my D500. What flash are you using and are you using a Better Beemer? Thanks for any info you are willing to share.

Both my flashes are no longer available new. SB800 and SB900. I prefer the SB800 because it can take an extra battery.
Yes I nearly always use a Better Beamer.
If I were in need of a flash I'd take a serious look at the Nissin i60 with a guide number of 60 meters. Not all version are yet available but coming soon.
