Everybody is upset about a few athletes, but what about this? Is this OK because he is a president?

Would OP tell us exactly how discourteous athlete behavior equates to "pimpass assed liberal movement." And how does OP know that those athletes are not dyed-in-the-wool Republicans.

It's very simple. Anyone who comes out of a back ground in America that is not part of the liberal movement would never think twice to not salute the flag and be respectful to our country. It's the liberal movement that has created this undermining of America and no other group in this country follows that behavior. It's called simple dedication and knowing what is going on in the country today and why.

Amazing, 10 pages of something that has nothing to do with photography.

I am quite mad about this even madder that NBC has the gull to ignore this. Starting (from what I have seen) the two athletes that are from Florida Gator country, when they won the Gold and Silver metals for the triple jump, had the nerve to wrap themselves in the flag but when it came to the metal ceremony, honoring them and our country with our National Anthem, they refused to salute the flag. Instead they stood there like a bunch of thugs with their hands over their genitals during the entire playing of the anthem and our flag being risen up. Then right after, the three that swept the metals in the hurdle race (forget which one), the next day repeated the same disgusting, disrespectful behavior. And later the same day the two that won the Gold ands Silver in the shot put, did the same thing. Three times in two days, eight athletes representing us, disrespect us and our country. Are they protesting something or what? And if they are, the Olympics is no place to be doing it; politics are supposed to be let at home.

NBC has ignored this behavior and has said nothing about it, nor have we heard any statement from the Olympic committee and obviously they don't care since athletes keep repeating this insulting behavior. I was so disgusted, that I called my local NBC affiliate to protest the fact that the network is ignoring the subject and the guy I talked to questioned wether the Olympic committee gives any instructions to the athletes for proper behavior at the metal stand but could care less about doing anything about it or having it investigated. I was appalled at his attitude; displayed to me that he could care less. So I called the newspaper in our state capital and I got the same; I could care less attitude. Makes me wonder if the media has been directed by the white house to ignore these unpatriotic acts as an attempt to insult the flag and America since the clown in the white house also refuses to salute our flag. This is an outright insult to every American and a direct kick between the legs to anybody that has worn the uniform in defense of our country.

In my book any athlete that goes over seas and represents us and openly disrespects the people of the United States should be shown the same disrespect to them, and the second they set foot on American soil, they should be met by a military General and/or their state Governor and immediately stripped of their metal and any honor that went with it. And NBC should have the right to cover the Olympics stripped from them too for allowing this activity to go on and ignoring it. If they are that ignorant and care that little about their country, they have no business covering any activities outside the borders of this country, if they should even be allowed to that; they should have their license pulled to broadcast. After all, they didn't mind raking the swimmers over the coals (not that they didn't deserve it - and it pisses me off too how they bought their way out of jail time; seems the rich can always get away with anything). Are they themselves that ignorant and have no patriotic duty and responsibility at all.

I personally am sick and tired of this pompus assed liberal movement to destroy this country and turn it over to the New World Order and this is what all this is about to begin with.
I am quite mad about this even madder that NBC has... (show quote)

In brief, saluting is for military members in uniform and under cover. When a military member is in civilian clothes or a civilian is present for the playing of the national anthem one is supposed to place his right hand over his/her heart. It seems that this is no longer taught by parents or the schools.

My advice: ignore it! It is not worth blowing a fuse over ignorant actions by pampered children.

Well, it is in the "General Chit-Chat" section reserved for non-photography rantings.

Personal observation, don't give a damn if you don't want to show proper respect to the flag of your country but don't like anyone showing disrespect such as grabbing your genitals, to me that's saying F--k off America. They should be able to put their prejudices in their hip pocket and show respect for what "we" the people have given them and the tremendous amount of work that they have put forth.

Steve,
It is obviously photoshopped? I'm really surprised you are offering that in support of your opinions.

Likewise, I'm dismayed by the behaviour of our U.S. athletes in this case, as well as other cases. They tend to loose sight of the fact that they are ambassadors of this country. However, making political statements during medal awards is not new. Tommie Smith and John Carlos are infamous for their conduct during medal awards in Mexico in 1968.

My take is this. In keeping with our 1st amendment rights, they can express themselves as they wish. They have a right to do so. We have the right to disagree with them. In this case, it's up to the IOC to reprimand them, as the games are supposed to be apolitical. A noble goal, but difficult to achieve.

Nearly a thousand years ago a young Zen monk named Foyan was traveling from temple to temple in China. He was searching for a teacher that would put his mind at ease from anger and worry. Search as he did, he could not find anyone to help him. One night as travelers were settling down to sleep along the side of the road he heard a man arguing with his wife. She said to him, "You are only bothering yourself!" Upon hearing those words Foyan's mind was put at ease.

He's a Kenyan muslim for your information. He's not an American and his Presidency and some of the responses on this forum prove it too.

And therein lies the problem boys and girls. President Obama is a Kenyan Muslim. Somebody on faux noise said it, glen dreck said it or he picked up a broadcast from the Mother Ship through his aluminum foil hat that said it and lastly, donald rump said it so it must be so. I can't help but wonder if he would feel that way if President Obama looked like his mother instead of his father.

There you go again with your judgmental bull. For your information (and you will of course find fault with this too; you liberals just can't help yourselves.); I did try to join the peace corps but was rejected because I did not have the right education that they wanted at the time. All my life I have done volunteer work in my communities and have helped and inspired many young people and helped many out of the gutter; doing it and never asking for anything in return. I have done what I could everywhere I could and never received a red cent for doing it nor have I ever asked for one in return.

Too bad there are liberals on this thread? Why is that too bad, are you saying you have no tolerance, no respect for your fellow citizens, simply because we disagree with you politically? That feeling and/or opinion is certainly not in line with the principles this country was founded on. "We bear these truths to be self evident, that ALL men are created equal." Do those words sound familiar to you?

Doesn't give you a right to destroy the country as the liberal agenda is doing. The liberal agenda is not called a right; it's called treason! And if you can't see it, then you are part of the problem.

Nope. not only disrespectful in my book, but because of his position, it's treason. Look at all the disrespect he has caused from his actions; seems they all came out of the woodwork to tout his BS for him. Just shows you the damage one unAmerican can do to the whole country and how many blindly jump on his band wagon.
