I did a 6 day rafting trip on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon with Hatch River Expeditions in August. The photo opportunities were fantastic.

This is one of my best photos. It is a hand held HDR taken with Nikon D-5100, no filter.

What a dramatic photo. Was worth the trip for that. Did you take any while you were rafting and if so did you use a water protecting case on your camera?

I did not use a waterproof cover on the Nikon, as I only shot with it in calm water. I used my iPhone for shooting the rapids and I had a waterproof case which i could strap to my wrist.

I have a lot of shots taken from the raft in calm water.

We took that trip 30 years ago. I took 5 rows of film. By the third day everyone was talking about how many pictures they had left. I would image people on your trip were deleting the bad one and praying the battery would last.
