Hi! I'm David in Dallas (Texas, that is) and I'm a new subscriber. I'm not a professional, by any means, but I do take a lot of photos. I use a Nikon D7100 (now) and their 18-200 VR2 lens exclusively, and almost always without flash. The past couple of years I've also been post-processing with Lightroom® and then uploading to Flickr®; prior to that my uploads to Flickr had minimal or no post-processing. I have 39,000 pictures on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8712554@N02/collections and I will confess that I don't screen them too closely because they serve to re-stimulate my memories and tangentially share them with friends and relatives. A lot of my photos are taken "on the fly" while engaging in programmed tours, so time for lens changes and careful positioning is usually not available (hence the use of a "do everything" lens). I'm not ashamed of my work, but I won't try for any prizes, either. Prior to the D7100, I'd been using a D7000, but it died a couple of months ago. Earlier cameras used for pictures on Flickr include a Baby Brownie Special using 127 film (1960-1964), a Petri 7S rangefinder 35mm (1964-66), two Nikkormat FT (1967-1980s), Nikon N70 and FE (1990s-2004), Kodak DX7630 (2004--first digital), Nikon D50 w/first 18-200 VR (2005-2012, first DSLR), and beginning in 2013 the D7000. I believe my technique has improved somewhat, but my hardware has advanced by leaps and bounds!

Welcome to the forum. I have the same 18-200 lens I use on a D7200, when it doesn't have the Sigma 150-600C mounted to it. My favorite all purpose lens is my Canon 28-300L which I use mainly on a 5DSr.

Hmmm.. The 5DSR is a full-frame camera, right? So the 28-300 is equivalent to the 18-200 on the DX format.

Yes, all of the EOS 5D series are FF.
Almost, the DX equivalent is 27-300, one silly millimeter longer, but yeah, pretty much the same. The D7200 with the 18-200 is nice 'cause it's light. The Canon combo is fairly heavy. The 28-300 is advertised as a compact lens, compact my butt, I call it the white elephant, it's heavy but for such a long focal length, produces some pretty nice images, especially with the 5DSr's 50 megapixel sensor, but you need a good amount of light, the Canon is susceptible to a lot more shake than the D7200 is. I like both of them. Here's a shot I took with the 5DSr and the white elephant, nothing special just one of my puppies.

Very nice. I see a theme, structures designed by the same person. I like both but I like the tower best.
