I'm constantly baffled by the stuff that gets rave commentary on UHH; but nothing has baffled me as much as the fact that you have received almost no comments. Your photographs are superlative. There's a bit of me that would like to see the separated portion of the eggshell lying somewhere near the part you show, but that's a very small part of my frequently muddled head. The two shots are marvelous.

I agree. First rate photography!

Thank you all for your kind remarks. My head and my rates are getting bigger as you comment. :) I was only posting images because 1. I was asked to, and 2 if I'm going to be making comments and posting y'all should know what I am and am not capable of and where I am coming from.

I wish I could comment, but your skill is way above mine. That said, thank you for explaining your work process. Besides being really informative, it helps me get sense of the direction and discipline I need to improve. Your comments are as good as many I have read and turned to UHH for and admire.

always feel free to comment, I learn from everyone, if nothing more than a different way of approaching or looking at a subject/problem

Thank You all for your kindness again. I have decided to leave this group. (not because of anyone in this thread) I have watched and been a part of several discussions where a poster asked for help correcting a problem and instead 80% of the replies were on how to avoid it in the future. pure ego "I wouldn't have done that, Listen to me" type attitudes. and another who is probably very good but has an attitude problem giving me a snide remark on a comment I made helping someone else. when I checked his profile and previous posts I saw that kind of behavior to others as well. I look to see images they posted and found none...... so what does that say? I came here because I learn and am inspired by others observations and takes on things. I learn to be more creative by thinking of things in new ways. and I have 37 years as a photographer and 5 years selling pro camera gear experience, I don't know everything and am actually quite uninformed about many areas of photography. But I do have a lot of both technical and practical information and I do not mind sharing at all. Part of that experience is being in some groups like this where this same toxic attitude is displayed by a clique in the group and I don't want to be a part of that or have anything to do with it. I have enough stress without being pissed off by the "I am god attitude" some have and try to throw around. I will sleep on it to make sure that one person didn't just put me in this mood, but like I said. Several posts I'm involved in the real question was overlooked on how to fix the problem and it became a well they need to know how to avoid it in the future discussion. that's like calling 911 for medical emergency and being told you should have learned CPR. or you shouldn't have let that person near the pool and here's how to build a fence... you mind is on the problem at hand after fixed you discuss how to avoid it.... sorry I went on a rant. I will decide while having my morning coffee. if I leave, I wish you all the best. keep shooting and learning!

If you leave the group. those of us who appreciate new and interesting images will be deprived of seeing your highly skilled work. Could you not ignore any derogatory remarks? We live in the country and don't get to see top class photography. Your images were a breath of fresh air.

I've decided I am gonna stick it out a bit more (coffee does wonders) I tried to give the benefit of the doubt that it was just an Alpha beating his chest around the new guy, but then saw he did it regularly to seemingly everyone. I am going to speak up about it and call him out on it if I see it again. as well as the folks not answering the questions but instead trying to tell them how not to let it happen again. so may cause some controversy. whatever happens to me, y'all remember Photography should be fun! and we can learn from everyone. Everyone was once a beginner and someone had the patience to explain things to us even if we didn't get it the first 40 times. Of course egos get involved, your photos are an essence of yourselves, so when someone doesn't like it or they strongly critique it we feel like it is US they are critiquing. Just ignore that and learn what you can from it, even if it is only that there is another way to look at it. In the end, if you set out to achieve a result and you are happy with it. you succeeded no matter what anyone says, if you are photographing for someone else remember beauty is in the eye of the checkbook holder. You are trying to create their dream and yours doesn't really matter. If you know anything about using a handheld meter (the difference between reflective and incident readings a great instructor/photographer who has sadly passed is a great example of making photography fun and how great this endeavor of ours is. I urge you to watch/purchase Dean Collins CD's originally shot in the film days, most of it carries over to digital and is full of good information, humor and will teach you ways to control light you never thought possible. Here is a link to part of one of his talks. start with this one to learn his terminology or you will have trouble following his other videos. His Cd's are still available his set "LIVE" is a great one, this is a clip from his "3D contrast" video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyzkWxtKWm8

Then these, I tried to put them in an order to build on each other, best watched in order. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZzPVvFFUvE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsbGJoX8KsA a bit harder to follow because it doesn't lead you through in one continuous talk. It is laid out in order in the videos.

Side note, I received a call last eve. Looks like I will be heading to Colorado about the middle of next week for a shoot. expect to be gone at least 2 weeks, , then a one week break and back again for ????? usually when I'm told 2 weeks it ends up being 4-8 weeks LOL, I was told three weeks 2 years ago and ended up working in GA for 6 months. so in this business things change by the minute, including the project could cancel before I leave or even once I'm in transit.
