Check your bracketing settings. It might still be on even if you turn off the camera.

I was having the same problem and solved it by turning back on the facial recognition setting. It solved my problem and I looked everywhere on the web and found a lot of people having the problem but I never found this solution. I didn't find it in the manual either. I just used the WAG method and it fixed the problem without changing any other setting. Hope this helps you and lets you enjoy your camera. I didn't read all the posts here so if this has been talked about, sorry. The D750 is a very sensitive camera. One little setting change seems to make a huge difference. If you did the reset you already solved your problem unless you turned this setting off again.
