So how do your images look before they go through SCR and PS? That would be a valid comparison.

With a 15 second touch up:

Do you up-load images somehow with out first DL'ing them to your computer? You can't view an image as it is in your camera (except seeing the display thumbnail).

To answer, as WE ALL KNOW ALREADY, Raw files look flat before any processing. The JPGs I get from my Smartphone look fine. I just prefer shooting even those in Raw. And I certainly never see anything like the examples the lady posted initially. And I am sure she never has either as her images have always been good from her other cameras. And it seems she worked out the issue.

Those of you that do not like to process your images at all, I'm sorry, but that is the same attitude as would be to only contact print 35mm negatives. Enlarging is processing and the old masters with their loads of dodging and burning were processing the hell out of their negatives. As they should, to get the most out of them.

You need to make sure you're not shooting in "underwater mode" whenever you're using an underwater camera. It looks like the camera might have tried to correct the image as if it were taken under water.

It is obvious to me that this shot was taken with one of the Art modes in the function menu. Probably pop art. It is indicated by the squiggly white lines when viewing at full size.

I was thinking that also, although it looked like "Monet" mode to me. There could be a market for such things, Dali, Rembrandt, Mondrian, Klimpt, the possibilities are endless. Perhaps better as a PhotoShop plugin than in camera though!

For all of you who have recently checked in, the problem seems to have been resolved with the "reset" button. The photos it is now taking are quite acceptable, and the camera will work well for family snapshots on the beach and in the water while the DSLRs sit safely in the case back at the house.

Thanks everyone for all of the helpful suggestions.

I bought a little Olympus (waterproof) Stylus to take on vacation for use at the beach. It sounded good, but my trial photos aren't what I expected. Am I spoiled from the bigger DSLRs? It seems that 16mp should give me better resolution in bright light. These examples were taken in aperture priority and zoomed to the full 4x. The cropping and processing were what I usually do, but the photos still seem to have odd noise that I haven't seen with my other photos. Any suggestions?

You may want to shoot only RAW. Almost all smaller non interchangeable lense cameras, including Olympus, suffer from some image quality. That will allow you to maximize what quality there is.

Yes, I bought this for underwater and if we do any kind of kayaking or boating where I wouldn't want to risk getting a DSLR wet....
Now that it seems to be working fairly well, I can look forward to playing with it.

I am considering buying this camera - the Olympus TG4 - for an upcoming snorkeling trip.
My read of the reviews is that it is great for underwater, but not so much for dry land. When not in the water I will be using my dSLR !
Having said that, I I am grateful to my fellow UHH members for the multiple posts on this thread regarding how to optimize the use of this camera for use even when not in the water.

Olympus has a reconditioned one for $223.99. See http://www.getolympus.com/outlet for this 2 day sale. A very good buy.

The more I looked at the images you supplied, the more I wondered what your JPEG settings were. Check you JPEG setting to make sure your images are not being compressed too much.

Post is obsolete. I read further down and saw where vicki said it's fixed. I'm glad for you Vicki.

The first picture looks more like a painting than a photo.
