Hi every one I have just got myself this lens and I am doubtful that the Image stabilization is working
I have a 120-300 f2.8 sigma sports I can both hear and feel it cut in
on my new sigma 150-600 I can not hear it or feel turned of or on 1 seems to make no difference
my question to any owners out there is how does theirs work ?
thanks for any help you can give as I don't want to return it if its just me lol

The OS function should be very noticeable when looking through the viewfinder and half pressing the shutter button. If not then you probably need a repair. The OS switch may be bad or the OS motor may be bad, but the effect should be easily seen.
The lens will still be under warranty provided it's not grey market and you bought it new from an authorized dealer. You can easily call Sigma and talk to a tech about the problem but it would be hard to diagnose over the phone.

I believe the OS on the sport is similar to the Contemporary version that I have. The OS setting is "Standard" by default and you can not see its affect on the image when looking through the viewfinder (or hear it either). I had the same question you had so I took two shots at a slower shutter speed and yes the OS was working just fine when I looked at the shots in LR. If you want to see the effects of the OS in the viewfinder, you need to set it to "dynamic" with a dock.

thank you Revet , yes I did that last night and on the C1 and C2 settings but you cant change to dynamic on the standard camera settings is that correct ?
any way it as you say worked just fine and thinking back I think I changed the 120-300 will have to have a look
But yes went out today and got some shots other than low light it was great
But that would explain why I can not tell in standard mode , ill use it on C1 instead thank you I had all ready done what you suggested but it is nice to have ones thoughts confirmed
There may be a firmware update that will fix this too. Call Sigma.

If C1 and C2 have not been set using the dock, Keep custom @ off, Turn OS on @ 1 for general hand held shots, For panning shots set @ 2. You will see the OS working on # 1 setting, will not hear it.
