I am planning a trip to Buenos Aires in the next few months and I was hoping for some suggestions on what to shoot. Is there a photography club in Buenos Aires?

I do not think you will be allowed to carry in there and if there is a shooting it likely will be you as a target. The local are training themselves at the moment shooting at the police...

As to know if there is a club there? Use google!!!!

Thanks for the great advice :( I guess I should have said "photo opportunities" for the folks that are more literal.

A friend visited there a few years ago. He visited cafe's and small dance clubs. The Tango dance is very popular there, and he said the food was great, especially various beef dishes. Your camera will have lots to capture. Have a great trip.

Don't miss the opera house. If you are into walking the walk from the opera house to the cemetery is full of great things to shoot. Also take US dollars (new crisp ones) the merchants and restaurants will give you twice the official exchange rate.

Why are you more often than not, such a rude and arrogant bastard? I'm still fairly new here, having joined last Oct, and couldn't help but notice the nature and tone of your responses, your "orders" about what to do or not do with your posts, etc. If you find someone's question not to your liking and are not going to at least be civil in your replies, just shut the phuck up!

Lucky you! Buenos Aires is a wonderful city to eat the very best steaks, drink the best Malbecs and take a lot of photos. The main boulevards with their sidewalk cafes, La Recoleta Cemetery, where Eva Peron is buried will take you hours to contemplate and photograph and of course the colorful La Boca tango neighborhood is not to be missed. Take in a city tour that includes the La Boca Tango area but be very careful and don't wonder away from your tour guide. The touristy Estancia tours that travel to the Pampas are really quite good because you get an excellent Tango show, wonderful barbecue and outstanding gaucho horsemanship demonstration. The Plaza de Mayo with the presidential home, Casa Rosada and the Metropolitan Cathedral where Simon Bolivar Tomb is quite interesting. It would be best not to wear exposed jewelry and watch out for pickpockets. It is no more dangerous than many large US cities. If you have time a side trip of two nights to Iguazu Falls, just a short plane ride north, is a wonder not to be missed. I would recommend staying at the Sheraton Hotel that sits within the national park and within magnificent view of the falls. Get a Falls view room if you can. This hotel is on the Argentine side and offers the most convenient access to the park. The expansive safe metal ramps offer a wonderful opportunity to photograph the many falls with numerous rainbows. Do make certain that the falls have abundant water if you go as some months the rivers become a trickle. The wildlife is also amazing with condors and toucans flying about. Plan to leave the hotel early to beat the tourists coming by rail. As a hotel guest you can enter the park an hour earlier than other park visitors via a short walking trail. Have a great trip!

Hi,

You got some great suggestions for what to photograph while in Buenos Aires. My wife and I have been there four or five times. Our last trip this past December we had an extra day in Buenos Aires and decided to take the ferry across the Rio de la Plata to spend the entire day roaming around Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. This very old picturesque town is a lot of fun to photograph. Do a search on line and you can get an old town map. We purchased the day entry to all the museums and really enjoyed it. The view from the top of the old lighthouse gives you a magnificant view of the old city of Colonia. Try to squeeze this side-trip in.

Sometimes he's good but most of the time bad. The best thing to do is to ignore him when he say somethings. I guess he thinks he is a sit down (at the computer) comedian so if you feel that you have to reply just send him a loud BOO....Rich

If you have the time take the ferry from BA to Colonia, Uruguay. Colonia is a great "little" city and there are no fees to enter Uruguay from Argentina.

I've posted this link a couple of times over the last few weeks, but here it is again as I think it is worth it....someone on the is site graciously posted a link called "Shot Hot Spot" awhile back. (www.shothotspot.com). I wanted to see how it worked and tried it out by putting in my own neighborhood to see what came up. I was amazed...I've live in the area for over 10 years and never knew about some of the locations this site showed me. We're leaving for Hawaii the end of the month...although I've been to the islands several times I intend to use this site to find places I just didn't know about. Try it out and see what come up for yourself. It even works on my mobile phone...so you can be anywhere...enter the city/state and bingo...you've got places to see and visit. There is also a "advance" feature with the app to narrow down what you might want to shoot, i.e. sunsets, wildlife, architecture, etc. Most important have fun and a safe trip....be alert, lots of bad people out there no matter where you go.

We were there in June. Took photos in the Cathedral, La Boca, lots of buildings, fountains, etc. It was winter, so the light was not highest contrast type. We had fun, though.
