This was not something I was actually looking for, but when I saw it for sale locally at a very reasonable price (less than half what used ones cost on Amazon), I just had to get it. I'm thinking this will be easier to walk around with, for example at Balloon Fiesta, than lugging a full back pack.

It is a Domke PhoTOGS Vest (Kahki). 18 Pockets with tons of room. well ventilated back. It looks a little dorky with a bunch of lenses and stuff, but it beats a backpack for ease of access to gear.

I've considered getting one myself, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I have one and love it. They can be very pricey.

Mine has zip off sleeves which make it really nice when you go out early and it is cool and heats up. It was perfect in Africa in May.

This one was selling for half what used ones of the same model are selling for on Amazon, so I jumped on it. I don't envision using it all the time, but for trekking around Bosque Del Apache, or the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, stuff like that.

MtnMan! CAS ... clothing acquisition syndrome. Yep... Love the floppy XY company hat [ISEYMI Outdoor cowboy hat]and pants [Guan's Mens Casual Military Army Style CARGO CAMO Combat Work Pants]. I like the $20 pants and that $15 floppy wad up hat. The pants alone would hold a lot of DSLR stuff. True you will look and walk more like Frankenstein [classic B/W movie ], but not a Dork.

Yes, easy access to your equipment, lenses, battery, memory, and such... but then a problem... "Where the hell did I put the 50mm prime"

I am still looking for boots like my cousin had when we were kids... jack knife holder would do for batteries and memory.

I've seen "sneakers" with zippered and Velcro compartments.

I have that exact vest (mine has the zip off long sleeves making it a vest rather than a jacket) and I love it. Yes it does look a little dorky but it is convenient and has lots of pockets and a hood built into the collar for wet weather. Mine has several pockets inside the vest, more on the outside, room for batteries, memory cards, lenses, filters, etc. I even throw it (loaded with lenses and gear, in the luggage compartment on my motorcycle for photography outings. It beats wearing a backpack that you have to take off every time you want to change lenses or anything else. You just reach into a pocket and get it. Sure, there are so many pockets that sometimes you have to search 2 or 3 to find the right one but everything is right there. And Domke has gone out of business so they are not readily available anymore.

The Domke is a great brand but went out of business a couple of years ago. There have been numerous complaints about them closing because their quality and workmanship was excellent. I suspect that the owners (manufacturers) decided to retire and go out of business. I paid about $100 for my coat/vest new from B&H when Domke was in business. I've had it for 5 plus years and it still works great. The Velcro is still tight on the pockets and zippers are all in good shape (and I use it daily and have traveled heavily with it). It has a couple of cords that have a ball with a press button on them to tighten the cords around the base of the jacket/vest. The zippers that make the sleeves removable are both in good shape and get lots of use. I live in Florida (Clearwater area) and use it as a vest down here, but I travel to Maine, Pennsylvania, Montana, etc. a lot and use the sleeves too. (the sleeves have pocket between the elbow and shoulder for pens etc as well as pockets on the left and right upper part of the vest for pens, batteries, an other items. I probably carry 20 lbs of gear in the vest and it has held up as well as my US Military (I got it in 1970) field jacket (which I used to wear before the Domke). I still use the field jacket occasionally but it has my chevrons etc. from the air force and is generally kept with my old uniforms.

I have two of them. They don't make em any more so that's a rare find.

I didn't know they went out of business; that's too bad. Their vests/ jackets and bags are still for sale on Amazon. The Jacket version with removable sleeves sells new on Amazon for a whopping $357! (Probably because they are no longer made). The version I have sells on Amazon for $199. (I paid $49).
