Need to clone from one photo to a very similar other photo. Have done it before but I forgot how I did it. Anyone have the answer. Problem is I have two photos of my daughter in her wedding dress. One is overexposed but facial expression is perfect. The other is exposed perfectly but the facial expression is not great. I want to clone the perfectly exposed gown onto the overexposed gown.

Look at ONONE web site there are two FREE!!! programs. Yesterday they gave a Webinar on them. It may be posted, only 1/2 Hr. The one plugin will do the exposure adjust very well. The other program is Perfect Layers and it will auto blend the two photos as you asked. Specifically the two girls - two photos problem you asked about.

I get all my PSE answers at Elements Village. Just go to the website, register for free, and start enjoying the help of a great and knowledgeable bunch of folks who never leave you hanging. And have fun with PSE! I became addicted several years ago.

Spider??? What spider? In the center is the maidenhair fern in its very early stages of unfurling. I superimposed that on a fully developed maidenhair. Understandable.....

Hi jerryg,

Welcome to the UHH forum. Will try to answer your question as best I can but first I'd like a little background info regarding your system.
What version of PSE are you currently use?
Do you use a Mac or PC platform?
Do you feel proficient in using the tools that your version provides?
I want to know what I'm dealing with so I don't go off half cocked thinking I'm dealing with a Mac person when he is a actually a PC user. Different strokes for different platforms so to speak.

I don't claim to have all the answers but if I can help, I'll give it a go.
I'm a Mac user and try to answer PSE questions from a Mac perspective as there are different command for each platform.
I have had V6 for Mac for a few years now and I like it and use it for my own personal pleasure. I know the newest version is V10 to date. Let us know a bit more info regarding your system and hopefully I or someone else can help with your issue.

To recap: You have two photos (similar but yet technically different pictures of the same subject). You want to clone one part of one photo onto the second separate photo. Personally, I have not done that - cloning from one photo to a separate different photo. I usually clone from the same photo to another area of the same photo.
My guess (it is a guess at this point) would be that you need to use the quick selection tool and make a selection of her perfect expression and then use the move tool and drag this selection over the overexposed expression and then use "Command T" to place it where you what it. Once you have it where you want it, click enter or use the green check mark and the bad expression is replaced by the good expression.
Sounds simple but you may need more help on this than I can provide.

I use PSE 10 on a pc. I am quite proficient in PSE and computers in general. What I actually want to do is get dress detail from the properly exposed and clone the dress detail (the white is blown out on the other pic). The pictures are 2 completely different photos and just want to get a little more of the detail of her gown from the properly exposed photo onto the overexposed photo. Can't just overlay one to the other because one is inside (good one) and the other was in full sun so I have to clone slowly to get what I want. Yes I clone from one area of a photo to another area of the same photo very often. This is a little tougher.

Is it possible to see the two photos side by side before any cloning is done? It may or may not help others understand the problem you have.

Regards,
